I. CONCERNING

Complex : TEL lx330 MW Coal-fired Power plant

EPC : China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC)

Engineer : M/S Italtec Energy

Employer : Thar Energy Limited (TEL)

Power Purchaser : Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA)

II. OBJECTIVE

The test will demonstrate the correct/same Phase Sequence between Sub-Station and Grid system

III. Stage

The test is part of commissioning tests prior to synchronization of TEL 330 MW Coal-Fired Power Plant

with the national grid.

IV. PPA reference(s)

Article VIII Testing and Capacity Ratings

Section 8.2 Tests prior to synchronization of the complex

Section 8.2(f) Voltage phasing checks will be carried out between the sub-station of

the relevant Unit of the Complex and the Grid System

V. CRITERIA FOR COMPLIANCE

Position of three phases on both sides of the CBs will be the same. Direction of rotation will be

clockwise.

VI. TEST EXPLANATION

1. The phase sequence of the Grid System and the Steam Turbine Generators shall be checked
and matching of phases shall be performed.
2. Checking of phase sequence from the PTs on Phase Angle Meter with secondary connected
in marshalling cabinet.

VII. MEASUREMENT REQUIREMENTS

The measuring equipment/data logging devices used shall consist of the following:

1. Phase rotation tester for direction of rotation. (Digital phase volt-ampere tester)

AF HUBCO
THAR ENERGY LTO

2. Tester for phase sequence.

VIII. METHOD OF TESTING

a. Test Coordination
The coordination of the test shall be done by CMEC. The Independent Engineer shall be informed on a

continuous basis in order to provide his consent to proceed.

b. Pre-conditions
1. The existing phase sequence of Grid is R-Y-B and similarly the phase sequence of the Power

Plant is also same.

2. Generator transformer is energized from the Grid.

c. During Test
1) Ensure all the 500 kV bus bar 1 breaker of transmission lines are open.

2) Ensure all the disconnects switches connected to bus bar 1 directly is open and their

control power supply have been cut off.

3) Ensure grounding switch are open and their control power supply have been cut off.

4) Temporarily unlock the protection of excitation breaker inter-trip generator transformer

5) Modify generator over voltage value to 0.8 pu, Os temporarily.

6) Adjust the parameters in excitation control system to ensure the safety of test.

7) Close the main transformer high voltage side disconnection switch manually after that,

close 500 kV bus-barl side breaker manually.

8) Close the field circuit breaker and start excitation.

9) Raise excitation reference gradually until generator voltage reach 100% rated voltage.

Check all the relative PTs phase, phase sequence and amplitude of synchronization device for

main transformer HV breaker

d. End of Test

The end of each test will be the point at which all readings have been taken.

e. Results

After the test is finished, all relevant documents will be copied and signed by all parties involved. This
means that only these documents may be used for determination of the results. In case of electronic
recording, it is required to create printouts as far as possible or copies of files will be handed over

IX. PROTOCOL

The protocol shall contain all relevant calculations, calculation procedures, and used printouts and

plant data information. It shall be clear if the test is in compliance with the requirements of the

Connectivity Protocol.
