Dream Home 2-D Layout

What you Learned: For this project I tried to think about stuff I like and don’t like about my
current house. I made a list of all the things I would like my dream home to have and that made
the creation of the house a lot easier to create because I knew what I wanted to include in my
layout. When I first started my layout, I had the living room, dining room, and both bedrooms in
different areas, but then I realized the layout wouldn’t work because there wasn’t a possible
entrance to the backyard. I then switched the dining room and the master bedroom, and then I
arranged the second bedroom to be in-between the office and the kitchen. I liked this layout so
much more. I had to work with the space I had, so I tried to give every room a good amount of
space while also making sure the rooms were the ideal rooms. My real dream home would have
an arch doorway and would most likely be a two-story home, but this layout would be a good
layout for the first story of my dream home.

ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for STUDENTS (NETS)•S Addressed:

Standard #6 1.6a: Students choose the appropriate platforms and tools for meeting the desired
objectives of their creation or communication.

Application of Skills Learned for the Future: This project would be great for students when
covering a lesson on Measurement. They utilize lines to create the perimeter of the house and to
divide areas of the layout of the house. Being able to add pieces of furniture and color can make
the project even more exciting. It also allows them to be creative on their own.
