HAWAIIAN ISLANDS REGIONAL CENTER, LLC RECEIVES REGIONAL CENTER DESIGNATION FROM U.S. CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION SERVICES HONOLULU, HAWAII On Wednesday, June 7, 2011, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) designated Hawaiian Islands Regional Center, LLC (HIRC) as a government approved vehicle for foreign investment capital. This designation makes HIRC the newest U.S. government sanctioned EB-5 Regional Center in Hawaii. An EB-5 Regional Center is an economic unit which is involved with the promotion of economic growth, improved regional productivity, job creation, and increased domestic capital investment, and all Regional Centers must receive approval from USCIS. With the designation, HIRC is approved to manage qualified EB-5 capital investments in nursing care facilities and home health care services throughout Hawaii. For its first project, HIRC plans to raise $18.5 million to invest in a 100 bed skilled nursing facility in Hilo. In addition to receiving a work visa, qualified foreign investors have the added benefit of priority visa consideration for their entire family. HIRC collaborated with Hawaii State Representative Jerry L. Chang, Governor Abercrombie, the State Department of Health, and the Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism to identify the Hilo project. As the State Representative of Hilo, I am tremendously excited that Hawaiian Islands Regional Center will be raising and investing funds is a skilled nursing facility that will serve the community and create permanent, quality jobs, said Representative Chang. The Hilo facility is the first of several to be built in Hawaii to serve its senior community and their families. The facility will be operated by Regency Pacific, which cares for more than 3,000 residents in over 50 retirement, assisted living, and skilled nursing communities across Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, and Hawaii.
