SITE VISIT REPORT

SITE VISIT OF STEEL TRUSSES


The site visit is held in the DR. D Y PATIL CAMPUS in the
cafeteria of the engineering college. About the cafeteria, it has
45m length and 20m width. About the design, the roof is having
semi circular truss along with circular sections.
It has been observed that the section used has circular bottom
chord and is placed at a distance of 4m c/c, and are 5 chords.
A series of trusses placed over the bottom chord at a span of
9m c/c, and at a height of 0.6m and above that purlin were
placed in circular sections at a distance of 1m each.

RECORDED POINTS –
• Bottom chord and stanchions were welded with the help
of plates.
• The bottom chords were joined at specific intervals.
• In columns, they used circular sections, were ladder like
structure.
• The gutter pipes were running adjacent to these columns.
• Welding is mostly used in the joinery.
• It has been observed that when the shape of the steel
sections is changed in the structure or use of a kind of
section in the entire section, it has been observed that the
joints were joined by using the means of welding, use of
plates and bolting were minimum.
