Generic Business-Level Strategies
Question 1

The generic business-level strategy that the firm chose to embrace was as well referred to

generic strategies model; three major strategies comes as a result of this that helps a great deal at

the end of the day. This is in seeing the firm compete with its rivals and ensure that their desired

goals that are as well in line with the targeted profits are realized at the end of the day

(Nandakumar 930). These basic strategies include the Cost Leadership, Differentiation, and

Focus. All these are achieved by ensuring that there is a reduction of the prices lower that the

entire competitors that are in the market.

Question 2

The environment that we are competing is very competitive following the years that our

competitors have as well been on the market. The fact that we were the first firm to introduce

salsa products and we have been doing it for the last three years until we are better known

nationwide. The other rivals that include Kraft and Nabisco have too been in the game based on

other products for a longer time even though they also chose to introduce salsa products. The

issue now comes in from the fact that they are as well experts in one way or the other following

the years that they have been in the game (Thornhill 560). The environment that we are now

competing is the external environment that is all about embracing the opportunities fully by

coming up with unique and informed strategies, for example, the reduction of prices so as to

maintain the proper name that we had not forgetting the profits. We must as well look on the

threats that come from this our competitors that we can never change but instead re-strategize

based on them so that we can apply the best and recommended techniques to best deal with them

in the environment. It is not a force to reckon with though but we keep the fire blazing hot.

Question 3

The generic strategies that will be the best working in this situation are the ones that were

discussed earlier in the first question that included the Cost leadership that is to ensure that we

lower our prices in a manner that we better placed to attract a lot of potential clients still.

Differentiation will as well work in this environment, and this will help us ensure that our salsas

products are properly looked at in that they are made very much unique to the extent that our

rivals can still never reach our level as far as quality is concerned Abby (Ghobadian 935). Lastly,

we will have to focus as a firm to look at both the internal and external factors and ensure that

the areas that are calling for corrections done with immediate effect for a better tomorrow. This

will as well help us in the lowering of our prices too so that we do not do it too much for the risk

of running losses in the name of strategizing to outdo our rivals.

Question 4

The very best strategy that will help a great deal, in this case, is the SWOT analysis that

will ensure that the firm is well informed on both the internal and external factors that affect the

firm in one way or the other (Stewart 555). This is the best and recommended way that the firm

will them be in the best position to re-strategize for the sake of our competitors since the firm

will have known the best way to go about the entire situation at hand and so their success at the

end of the day.
