The lineage of Mary Magdalene and Jesus has long been disputed, and now comes a novel based
on research that holds the reader's attention with unexpected plot twists. The two couples that
translated unknown scrolls in Secrets of the Magdalene Scrolls, are now shocked from their
complacent lives when Ellen has a surprising encounter with a mysterious old-world type of man
who disappears as fast as he appeared, leaving Ellen with a portmanteau filled with ancient
documents that when translated will shock the world.

Weaving into the present day story the lives of two women of Mary Magdalene's lineage, Johnson
has written a dynamic atmospheric story of passion and intrigue with the commitment of four people
who choose to translate these new documents while thrust once more into situations that place
them in jeopardy along with their children. Again, author Bettye Johnson has created a powerful
suspenseful novel that is a real page-turner

Even as the land in this area seemingly was preparing to sleep for the winter, she knew it was
vibrantly alive. It was at this moment she felt a presence, but in glancing around, she could not see
anyone. A soft breeze ruffled her hair and a surge of love engulfed her. Smiling, she got up and
bowed to an unseen presence she felt in the gentle wind.

Continuing her walk, Ellen smiled as she thought of her marriage to Peter and the subsequent birth
of the twins. My gawd, she thought. It's been almost six years since Peter and I married after the
discovery of the Magdalene Scrolls. Now Magda and Joseph are four years old and will have their
fifth birthday within six weeks. They are so wise for their age.

Still deep in her thoughts, Ellen began walking back to the chateau where she and Peter lived
part-time throughout the year. It was a wedding gift to them in joint ownership with Jill and
Sebastian, from her half-brother, Alain. With her attention focused on returning to the chateau, she
was startled when a man appeared on the path in front of her. He appeared from out of nowhere
and stood watching her.

The man was of medium height with white silvery hair reaching down to his shoulders. He wore a
dark forest-green cape reaching to his knees and under which she could see black baggy trousers.
What struck her most was his commanding presence and his brilliant blue eyes—a contrast to his
dark skin. Later she would remember his eyes reminded her of her mother's eyes.

Looking down at his feet, Ellen noticed an old-looking wooden portmanteau trimmed in leather
sitting on the ground. When she looked up to ask what this meant, the man was gone. Shaken, she
looked around while calling out, "Come back! Who are you? Come back!" Only the sounds of the
birds breaking the silence of the forest were heard.
