LEADERSHIP VALUES AND ATTITUDES

Leadership- is the process where someone is able to motivate and inspire others to follow
them.
Leader- is someone who can see how things can be improved and who guides and motivates
people to follow the path with a better vision.

A. LEADERSHIP VALUES
>>>Values are the beliefs that guide our decisions and actions. It influences one’s ability to
lead effectively and shapes someone on how to be a good leader.

>>>Leadership values are important because they help us determine how we want to reach
or achieve our goals and what type of leader we want to be. Our core leadership values play
an important role in guiding how we make decisions and what actions we take on a daily basis.

13 Essential Values of a Leader:

1.) EMPOWERMENT AND DEVELOPMENT


*As a leader, you must have a power. An effective leader empowers others. This
empowerment can come from a training, coaching and workforce development.

2.) VISION
*As a leader, you must have a clear vision.
*A leader that has a vision would mean also that you will be good in decision making.

3.) COMMUNICATION
*This is the foundation of any relationship.
*A leader may have a clear vision but if there’s no communication, you won’t be able to
share it.

4.) REINFORCEMENT AND INFLUENCE


*Positive reinforcement and recognition is very important form of communication to your
team members.

5.) EMPATHY
*It is the ability to understand others, see from their point of view, and feel what they are
feeling.
The importance of empathy as a leadership value is not simple nice or likable but also
exercising empathy and understanding each person’s motivation could help you so much to
build a stronger team.

6.) HUMILITY
*A good leader is willing to recognize his/her own mistakes and set aside his/her pride.
You must also learn to seek advice from those with more experience.
*Having a strong sense of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and humility is a key
leadership trait.

7.) PASSION AND COMMITMENT


*A leader with this kind of mindset can motivate everyone around them. Their passion and
energy are so infectious that it drives and uplifts the entire team.

8.) RESPECT
*Respect must be observe and shall move in all directions. Treat your employees right and
with the respect they deserve to gain respect in return.

9.) PATIENCE
*Patience is a value that is oftened learned with time but it is an incredibly important skill
for those with leadership roles.

10.)RESILIENCE
*As a leader, you must have the ability to adapt to difficult situations.

11.)HONESTY AND TRANSPARENCY


*Employees want a leader who is honest and transparent about their performance,
objectives and directives. Transparency leads to higher level of trust. When your members
see that you’re willing to be honest and open, they’re more likely to trust you. Being
transparent is a powerful thing, if you can trust yourself and be trusted by others.

12.)ACCOUNTABILITY
*This is one of the most essential values that many employees admire in a leader.
*Leadership accountability in the workplace is an overlooked but essential component of a
healthy culture.

13.)INTEGRITY
*Integrity is a character trait that gains respect and trust. This means honoring
commitments (including to yourself) and doing what you say you will do, as well as
approaching challenges in ways that are coherent with other values and beliefs.

B. LEADERSHIP ATTITUDES

Attitude - a manner, disposition, feeling, position with regard to a person or thing; a tendency
or orientation of the mind.

In general, attitude is the way you mentally look at the world around you. It is how you view your
environment and your future. In other words, it is your worldview.

1. INTEGRITY
*Honesty and integrity are the foundations for any kind of success in my view
whether that’s in a personal relationship or professionally as a leader.

2. TRUST
* Trust is essential especially for those team who truly follow a leader, one who
inspires them and who they feel they want to support through the highs and lows of
business.
Trust is a shared belief that leaders are committed, compassionate, and capable in a
workplace.

3. TAKE RISKS
*Leaders who are willing to take more risks than their colleagues will be more
successful. 
*Great leaders recognize that in order to be innovative, they will need to be able to
take risks.

4. COURAGE
*A courageous leader is someone who isn't afraid to honestly and openly seek out
feedback from those around them.

5. FAIRNESS
*Fairness is one of the strongest dynamics in an effective workplace. It promotes
harmony, good will and a sense of equity among colleagues.

6. PASSION AND ENTHUSIASM


*A leader’s role is to inspire. This is always easy to do when a leader has genuine
passion and enthusiasm for what they are doing.

7. COMMITTED TO DEVELOPMENT 
*Commitment is persistence with purpose. Commitment is what keeps you going in
the face of adversity and challenges. Leaders must continually evaluate their
commitment to the people they lead and to their purpose.

8. HUMILITY
*Humility is an important but under-discussed value of leadership. Humble leaders
are considered more approachable, forgiving of mistakes, and willing to acknowledge
others' work, which can motivate employees to share ideas and work harder.
