Emerged Leadership Philosophy Vision of Education

As I continue my journey in leadership, I believe that the following traits are vital to a successful

leader.

1. Transparency: Leaders should remain transparent about their expectations,

communication styles, and motives behind decisions. Being a leader who is secretive or

only gives part of the whole in situations will not be trusted, ultimately creating a

negative environment for staff and scholars.

2. Humility: Servant leaders work alongside their staff and scholars, rather than dictate what

everyone should be doing. Reminding ourselves we are part of the bigger picture and

remaining humble in our position will cultivate positive working relationships among all

stakeholders and ourselves.

3. Empathy: Having the desire to do good work for scholars is key. Being mindful of

everyone having a backstory and knowing all actions are part of a potential reaction is

important when dealing with the younger generation. Active listening and caring about

the well-being of everyone in the school building build empathy, trust, and motivation.

In my future practices as a leader, I will embody the dispositions of a servant leader. I

want to guide staff and scholars in a direction that is positive, helping them make choices along
the way. I will celebrate their successes and I will reflect with them on their hardships. I will
remain humble in my actions and do my best to incorporate everyone's perspective into decisions
that impact the group.
