Testimonial for Chin Hui En

Chin Hui En was a student of Swiss Cottage Secondary School from 2019 to 2022. Hui En is
a pleasant and well-mannered student who is always polite to teachers and peers. She is an
approachable individual who demonstrates patience and thoughtfulness towards others. A
determined learner who sets clear goals, she constantly strives to improve in all that she does
and taking great pride in her work. She thinks critically by demonstrating a strong ability to
identify, analyze and solve problems. Mature in her thinking, Hui En is able to prioritize her
commitments and achieve a good balance between her studies and other duties.

Hui En is an effective communicator who has a passion for current affairs. As a delegate of
the Swiss Model United Nations 2021, an internal cohort-wide conference, Hui En exhibited
strong analytical skills and ability to navigate the complexities of international diplomacy.
For her charismatic leadership, strategic negotiation skills, ability to critically analyse
policies, and overall contribution to the conference, Hui En was awarded the Best Delegate of
the Disarmament and International Security Committee.

Hui En has been an active member of the Swiss Basketball Club from 2019 to 2022 and has
contributed much to the club in terms of her commitment and leadership. Her desire to
improve her skills was evident to her peers and coaches who gave her constructive feedback
on her performance, which she acted upon. Hui En was a hardworking player who always
strived to bring out her potential and she enjoyed working with her teammates very much.
Hui En has become a lot more confident in herself by improving her expression and
interaction skills over the years. She also built a strong mindset as she learnt the importance
of perseverance, determination and daring to try new things. Through her active participation
in Basketball, Hui En represented the school in the National School Games (Basketball)
Championships from the years 2019 to 2022 barring 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid 19
pandemic. Even though the team did not proceed on further in the competitions despite all the
hard work they put in during their training sessions, Hui En and her teammates continued
guiding and grooming the new basketball executive committee. She has shown values of
honor as she upheld the role of a nurturing senior to her juniors.

Hui En was also a committed member of the Student Council (Sports) from the year 2020 to
2022. Driven by her passion to serve the Sports Leaders (SL) and the school, she was
appointed as the Secretary of Sports Councillors in 2021. Student Council (Sports) helps to
promote Lifelong Activeness and Social Responsibility in the school by running school
events and long term duties independently. As a Secretary, she was responsible to oversee
administrative matters such as attendance tracking during events and meetings, minute
taking, and allocation of resources and manpower during camps and other events. Hui En was
also in-charged of planning the bonding activities for the committee that helped the Sports

Councillors build stronger friendships with one another. She was a supportive team player
who worked well with others to achieve common goals. The programmes she supported and
oversaw from 2020 to 2022 were WeGrow Inter-class Games, Swiss Olympics, All Children
Exercise Simultaneously (ACES) Day and, Freeplay to promote Lifelong Activeness. She
also contributed to and oversaw Games Learning Modules and the PE Reps Programme to
prepare student leaders to support school wide sports programmes. Hui En also helped
promote Social Responsibility through the Disinfectant duty, Equipment and Venues Care
Challenge.

Despite her busy schedule, Hui En still took part in several Values in Action (VIA) projects
organized by the school. In 2019, she was a participant of an activity - Unsung Heroes in
Swiss Carnival in which she worked together with her friends to ensure the school was litter-
free. In 2020, Hui En participated as a member of the basketball coaching clinic VIA service
which saw her, and teammates conduct basketball training clinics for students in school who
are interested to further their passion in basketball. Hui En also participated in the area
cleaning VIA which saw them spending time and effort to clean up the school’s sporting
venues and ensuring that the venues are safe for sports play and training. In 2022, She was
part of her class's student-initiated project where the class grew plants along the school’s
corridors to make the school a greener place. She was tasked with logistics where she
procured the items needed for the project like collecting plastic bottles and buying the
necessary items, such as soil and seeds.

Her determination and passion for the things that she believes have inspired many of her
peers. Her willingness to accept criticism graciously and act on improving herself
constructively have allowed her to adapt to many situations. Her positive attitude towards life
is a strong driving force that will continue to help her reach her goals.
