So I'm sitting on the train, feeling nervous.

The sun is about to dip below the horizon. The whirring sound of the train's wheels is monotonous like the
fluorescent sting of its cosmetic lighting. In this rapidly moving metal tube of commuters, I blend in well.

I hate these dark evenings. At least my appraisal went well. The boss says I may even get a promotion soon...

I'm on my way back from work and I'm going on a date, tonight. It's been a while. Needless to say, I'm a bit
uncertain. This is the first time I've ever met up with someone using a dating app. It all seems a bit strange to me.

what if we don't get on? what will we say to each other? what if I make a fool of myself?

Be yourself. That's what they always say, isn't it? "Be yourself. But what if myself isn't good enough? Enough of
the platitudes, I need to work out what I'm going to wear.

why did I agree to this? It's not my style, we're meeting in a pub... I hate pubs.

well, wish me luck!

12th June 2019

Dear Diary,
Today has been the best day ever as Dad took me and my brother to the theme park! We arrived at 9am and my
brother and I jumped out of the car and ran to the entrance with Dad just behind us. We gave the entrance person
our ticket and in we went. I was jumping up and down I was that excited. We went on a few rides to start like the
merry go round, the fun house and the tea cups. Dad spun the teacups round so fast and my brother and I had
tears in our eyes and our sides hurt from laughing.
At midday we arrived at The Crazy Spinner roller coaster. I had always wanted to go on it but I had always been
too small. I was ecstatic when Dad measured my height and I was taller than the line. We ran in the line. I was
giddy but then, as we got closer, my tummy started to get butterflies. I looked at the big drops and people
screamed as they whizzed past. I started to feel a little sick. As we got to the front, Dad took hold of my hand
and said if I didn't want to go on I didn't have to. I almost said yes but then I saw how excited my brother was.
We boarded the ride and they strapped us in. We were off. I was so scared as it slowly travelled up the first hill.
Then it whizzed down the drop and I loved it! I screamed happily and even put my hands up in the air holding
Dad's hand. As soon as we got off the ride, we ran straight back into the queue and rode it another three times!
It was the best day ever and I had so much fun with my Dad and brother. We got a balloon each at the end of the
day and we even got to have an ice cream. When I sat in the car I realised how exhausted I was and within two
minutes I was fast asleep.
I will write again tomorrow. See you for now.

DIARY OF A STONE AGE CHILD

Dear Diary,
Today was the most incredible day of my life. Shall I tell you what I did?
I woke feeling cold and looked up to see my younger brother, Stoat, leaving. The fire had gone out and the deer
skin that my mother, Fennel, had draped carefully over me last night had fallen off, so my bare feet could feel
the ch autumn breeze blowing in. It was time to get up. Emerging from the tipi, I looked out at the hills beyond
our camp to see the sun slowly rising. I had jo to do that morning but first I had to help my brother to gather
some breakt We took our rabbit skin bags to the edge of the wood where the blackberrie grew and filled them up
to the brim. We couldn't resist gobbling a few berri as we picked, because the hunters had not had a successful
day out yesterd and we had only had a baby deer to share between our large family of twenty four so we were
ravenously hungry.

Dear Diary,
20th June
I've been dying to tell you what happened today! I suppose this is the best day of my life so far!
Guess what... Robin came away from his friends when I entered the hall at Susan's birthday party, and walked
straight to me. I was so nervous that I began sweating. I pretended not to notice him coming, of course. Tania
and Sheela pinched me from both sides, and just wouldn't LEAVE! I was really irritated, I tell you! But
thankfully Robin looked at neither of them. He came straight to me, said 'Hi' and then guess what!!! He asked me
for a DANCE!! Can you believe it!!! The school star footballer asking ME for a dance??? But I could have
slapped myself just then, I tell you, dear diary! Instead of the low tone and husky voice that I carefully rehearsed
for my words, I stammered and stuttered and actually tripped over my dress... but thankfully he didn't seem to
notice..........
