Q.5 Describe the following terms in one or two sentences; -


A) Arboreal animals- The animals that spend most of their time on trees
are known as arboreal animals.
Ex. Monkeys, tree lizards, squirrels.

B) Parasite- Some small animals that depends completely upon other


animals for their food requirements are known as parasite.
Ex. Leeches,lice,bed bug.

C)Amphibians- the animals that can live both on land and in water are
known as amphibians.
Ex. frog, toads etc.

D)Hibernation – A very special adaptation is found in the animals which


live in extremely cold habitats. This is called hibernation in which they
sleep throughout winter.

E) Omnivorous- animals that eat both plants and animals are called
Omnivorous.
Example. Humans, bears crow.

Q.6 Answer the following questions; -


A) Write a few lines about teeth of herbivorous and carnivorous?
Ans. Herbivores’ teeth- Herbivores have sharp and broad front teeth.
They have flat back teeth. This helps them chew their food well.
Carnivores' teeth -Carnivores have four long, sharp and pointed teeth
to tear the flesh. They have flat back teeth. This helps them chew the
flesh.

B) How do hibernating animals get food in winters?


Ans. Hibernating animals eat very well during summer and stored a lot
of fat in their bodies. During hibernation in winter, they keep alive by
using this stored fat. Frogs and lizards are some hibernating animals.

C) How are herbivores different from carnivores?


Ans. Difference between herbivores and carnivores are: -
Herbivores-1. Animals that eat only plants are called herbivores. Ex.
Cow, elephant.
2.Their jaws have sharp cutting or biting teeth in front and
strong grinding teeth at the back for chewing their food.

Carnivores-1. Animals that eat only the flesh of other animals are
called carnivores. Ex. Tiger, Lion.
2. Their jaws have sharp teeth in front which helped them in biting and
tearing flesh.

D) How are aerial animals adopted for their habitats?


Ans. Aerial animals have wings to fly. Their hollow, light bones and
feathers in birds help them in flying. Aerial animals also have
streamlined bodies, which cut through the air while flying.

Q7. Why do arboreal animals need strong muscles and limbs?


Ans. Arboreal animals have strong limbs and muscular tail to climb up
and down the trees and branches. Monkeys use their tails to swing
from trees.
