Q1. Define-Camouflage.
Ans-Camouflage-The physical characteristics of animals that help them to merge with their
surroundings, mainly for protection.
Q2. Differentiate between: Hibernation and Aestivation.

• Camels can live for weeks without food and water. They store food as fat in its hump
which is used later for energy. They can drink 40 to 50 litres of water at a time and store
it.
• They have double eyelashes which protect them from sandstorms.
• Their padded feet help them to walk easily on the sand without sinking.
Q4. List two features of amphibians.
i) Amphibians are animals that spend part of their life in water and part on land.
i)Amphibians have lungs to respire on land .In water they breathe through their moist
skin.Their young ones breathe through gills(when they become adult their gills get replaced
with lungs)
iii)They have folds of skin, called webs between the fingers of their feet which help them to
swim.
Q5. What is the function of blowhole?
Ans-Whales and dolphins are mammals and breathe air into their lungs. Blowhole acts like a
nose, located right on top of their head. It remains closed inside water and opens when they
come out to breathe. Blowhole allows them to breathe by exposing just the top of their heads to
the air.
Q6. How do snakes move and catch their prey?
Ans-Snakes do not have legs, they crawl with the help of their scales. They are able to swallow
their prey fully. With their powerful body muscles, they twist around their prey to strangle and
kill them.

1.What are endangered animal? What steps are being taken by the Indian Government for
protection of endangered animals?
Ans-The animals which are in danger of disappearing completely from our planet are called
endangered animals.
• The Government has enacted the Wild Life Protection Act ,1972 for protection of
wildlife.
• Government has set up many protected areas like National Parks, Wildlife
Sanctuaries.Ex-Gir Forest National Park
2.If a camel one day decides to go and live in the north pole, would it be able to survive? Why
or why not?
Ans-The camel will not be able to survive as it is not adapted to live in polar regions.
