Animals can be classified based on where they live.

Aquatic animals __ animals that live in water.
❖ Most aquatic animals breathe through gills except whales and dolphins which breathe
through lungs.

❖ Spend most of their time in air.
❖ Adaptations
▪ Light hollow bones , boat shaped bodies
▪ Body covered with different types of feathers
▪ Soft down feathers to keep them warm
▪ Flight feathers to help them fly
▪ Tail feathers to control the direction of flight.

Arctic foxes have brown coats of fur in summer but grow white fur at the approach
of winter. Their colour merges with that of their surroundings and makes them
difficult to detect, thus making them safe.
