[Software Description]
This software will update the LS200 series LinkStations’ firmware to
version 1.75. If your unit’s firmware is already version 1.75 or later,
you don’t need this update.

[How to Verify the Firmware Version]

Select your LinkStation from NAS Navigator2. The firmware version is
displayed on the bottom right corner of the window.
If the hostname contains “EM”, the LinkStation is in emergency mode. In
such a case, try updating the firmware to recover it.

[Notes]
• After updating to this firmware version, EXT3-formatted USB drives will
be rendered read-only.
• Please consult technical support or your local customer service
representative if the firmware update causes unexpected issues.
• Do not turn off the LinkStation until the firmware update is completed
and the “finished” message is displayed.
• Newer LinkStation firmwares may cause the “unknown error” message to
appear in NAS Navigator2. If this message appears, update NAS Navigator2
to the latest version.
• When you open Settings after updating to this firmware version, the
page may still be displaying “Reading”. In such a case, clear the web
browser cache and try again.

[How to Update the Firmware]

1. Connect the LinkStation and a computer to run the updater on the same
network subnet. The subnet masks should be the same and the first three
numbers of the IP addresses should be the same. The last number of the IP
addresses should be different.
For example, if the IP address and subnet mask of the computer are
“192.168.0.10/255.255.255.0” and the IP address and subnet mask of the
LinkStation are “192.168.1.150/255.255.255.0”, then the updater will not
work properly. In such a case, reconfigure the LinkStation’s IP address
and subnet mask to “192.168.0.150/255.255.255.0”. Then, they will be on
the same subnet and the updater will work properly.
2. Exit all applications. Also, stop or exit any firewall software.
3. Extract the downloaded file and run “LSUpdater.exe”. When a
LinkStation is detected, an update window will open.
4. If multiple LinkStations are connected to the network, select which
LinkStation to update.
5. Click ‘Update’ and enter the LinkStation’s admin password.
6. Click ‘OK’.
7. It will take several minutes for the firmware to update. During the
update process, the power LED will blink amber. Don’t disconnect or power
down the LinkStation until the update is finished.
8. When the update is finished, a message will be displayed.
