Artificial Intelligence in the American Workplace

Artificial intelligence and its power are starting to become commonly recognized as our knowledge

of technology increases. As we continue to use AI, we start to discover the thousands of tasks it could do for

people. American workplaces have started to use AI and are seeing how AI could help with problems.

Artificial intelligence will positively affect the American workplace in different ways. Artificial intelligence

will improve efficiency and opportunity for American workers.

On one hand, artificial intelligence is going to help create jobs for Americans. AI will

bring new types of employees at jobs. With artificial intelligence becoming commonly used in a

workplace, the value and demand for students that study any AI related jobs will increase. James

Wilson, director of IT, informs “More than 1,000 large companies already using or testing AI,”

which will continue to increase over many years and bring jobs with it (3). AI can also bring new

jobs for people that do not have a college degree. AI will increase opportunities of people in the

workplace.

In addition, artificial intelligence will improve cybersecurity. As new jobs continue to

expand and money grows, thieves try to find new ways to practice criminal activities. AI will

help protect workers from identity and money theft by making hacking harder to do. To support

the problem, Katharine Gammon, member of the National Association of Science Writers, states

“There were 707 million cybersecurity breaches in 2015,” which should encourage the

improvement of cybersecurity (2). With the workers being more protected, it would increase the
number of customers going to businesses which then improves the workplaces. Cybersecurity is

important to keep workers and costumers happy.

Ultimately, artificial intelligence will help make decisions in different workplaces. As

time passes, decisions that workers need to make become more important. Artificial intelligence

has become a reliable source to help workers go through data fast and accurate. AI could also

calculate the risks. John Howard, Director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety,

explains “AI supports financial, operational, and organizational risk decision‐making” which can

stress the importance of the use of AI (3). AI can also solve problems and help continue the

knowledge of technology so worker places can improve. AI would increase efficacy and

opportunity for the American workplace.

The American workplace is starting to change for the better. AI has is starting to be

widely used and is always being improved. The combination of the American workplace and AI

will bring efficiency and opportunity for all different types of jobs. In the end, AI will be the

base for an improved and new workplace.
