Creating A Solar

System
By: Emani Pegues
EDU 214 Professor Joni Flowers
Directions

To create a solar system the children will utilize the

circular pictures in front of them and a piece of string. Each
circular picture has a small hole for the string. After each
slide, the children will add that planet.
The Solar System

The Solar System is in the

The Solar System is a galaxy known as The Milky
combination of the sun, Way. For more facts please
moon, and the eight visit the NASA website.
planets. These eight planets
are Mercury, Venus, Earth,
Mars, Jupiter, Saturn,
Uranus, and Neptune.
The Sun

The sun is a star and the

center of the solar system.
It is full of hot plasma and
nuclear fusion. The Sun
gives us light and warmth.
The planets orbit around
the sun over the 365 days.
Add the sun to the string.
Mercury

Mercury is the closest planet to sun. This makes Mercury

the hottest planet. Mercury is also the smallest planet in
the solar system. Add Mercury to the string.
Venus

Venus is the second planet

from the sun. This makes
Venus the second hottest
planet. Venus is right next to
Earth which makes Venus
visible to the naked eye in
broad daylight sometimes. Add
Venus to the string.
Earth

Earth is the third planet

from the Sun and it is only
habitable planet for life.
The Earth is made up of
71% the ocean. Add Earth
to the string.
Mars

Mars is the fourth planet

from the sun. It is known as
the Red Planet as it is
associated with war and
death. Mars is the
second-smallest planet in
the Solar System, it is only
larger than Mercury. It is
also inhabited by robots.
Add Mercury to the string.
Jupiter

Jupiter is the fifth planet

from the sun. Jupiter is also
the largest planet. Jupiter
is a gas giant. Jupiter has
the shortest days out of all
the planets. Add Jupiter to
the string.
Saturn

Saturn is the sixth planet

from the sun. It is easy to
find Saturn because it is one
of the few planets with rings.
Saturn is also the second
largest planet. Add Saturn to
the string.
Uranus

Uranus is the seventh

planet from the sun. It is
the third largest planet by
radius and fourth largest
planet by mass. Add
Uranus to the string.
Neptune

Neptune is the eighth and farthest planet from the

sun. This makes Neptune the coldest planet. Neptune
is known as a gas giant, being the smallest gas giant. It
is said that in the past Neptune was closer to the sun
but moved out further over the years. Add Neptune
to the string.
The Moon

The Moon is a natural

satellite and the only one
for Earth. The Moon is the
largest natural satellite in
the solar system in relation
to size. The Moon orbits
Earth. Add the moon to the
string.
