INSIGHT

“Teaching is the noblest profession.” This saying has been known by my heart for ages.

But upon learning the Code of Ethics for Teachers also known as the Teachers’ Bible, I

understand more the real meaning of that saying.

It says in its Preamble that you will be called a Teacher if you are a duly licensed,

meaning that I must pass any type of Board Examination to possess that title. But in line with

that, I must have dignity, a good reputation, and high moral values for me to perform the

profession properly. This is true for me because starting from being a pupil until being a college

student, teachers are the ones who mold their personality and morale.

Being healthy physically, mentally, and morally must be my goal also so that I can give

my devotion to this duty. Also, while practicing the profession I must keep myself grounded so

that I can humbly accept some duties even it is small as long as it will help the school and the

community. It will also help me to not abuse the privilege given to us.

To help the community is being an intellectual leader by giving some counsel and

suggestions to the Barangay, for example, to give help the students in some community programs

and discipline. Another thing is, being a God-fearing person does not mean that I will impose my

belief on my future students. Replying in their queries about my faith is fine, but believing it or

not is in their decision.

As for my future learners, I pinned in my intellect that I shall not give private tutoring in

my students in the same subject, because it will give a bias impression to other students. This

also gives me a piece of advice and reminder to the future me for not giving any special

treatment to certain students even they are academically and morally good to the point of leaving

other students behind.

To help the parents of my future students, I must help them to realize that we are not

enemies but rather partners for the sake of the progress of their children. On the other hand, if I

made a mistake, I must also hear their criticism for me to not repeat it.

Teachers wearing different hats for me is the reason why it called the noblest. People may

think that it just all about teaching academic subjects, but I will make sure that in the future that

everyone will see our utmost importance in society.
