INTRODUCTION
This document contains information related to the creation of HealthyGutBudddies.com, which was
documented in this Udemy course:

https://www.udemy.com/wordpress-for-beginners-course

This document is meant to be a companion guide to that section of the course. You should follow along
with the video tutorials, and use this as a source of reference. Make sure you download this file at the
end of the course, since this file will be updated as I go along.

ABOUT MY WEB HOSTING & REGISTRAR

As mentioned earlier in the course, I use Name Cheap as my domain registrar, and Stablehost as my web
host. You can read more about my recommended web host and registrar here:

http://ezseonews.com/web-hosting/recommended-domain-registrar-hosting-companies/

For those of you using Hostgator or Bluehost, you can read my comparison of Stablehost v Hostgator
here:

http://ezseonews.com/web-hosting/hostgator-v-stablehost-review/

In my testing, Bluehost was very similar to Hostgator, and therefore not recommended.

Note that on those pages, I do have a link to Stablehost. That link is an affiliate link, so if you choose to
order hosting through that link, I will make a commission. However, I have also arranged for a 40% off
coupon for people using that link, so read those pages for more details if you are interested.
KEYWORD RESEARCH SITES
When you start building a site, you’ll need to do a little keyword research to decide what type of content
people want to see in that niche. Two very useful free keyword research tools are:

1. SEO Book’s Keyword Tool - http://tools.seobook.com/keyword-tools/seobook/

2. Ubersuggest - http://ubersuggest.org/

You will need to sign up for a free account on SEO Book website to use their tools.

FINDING AFFILIATE PROGRAMS TO PROMOTE

The easiest way to find affiliate programs to promote on your site is to search Google for:

KEYWORD + affiliate

Here are some search results related to my own site:

It’s then a case of going through each site in the list to see what terms they offer, and what products
they have that will match your website.
MIND MAP SOFTWARE
I use Mind Mapping a lot when I am creating a website or just trying to organize my thoughts on a given
topic. The tool I use is called Edraw Max, and you can read a review I wrote about that tool here:

http://ezseonews.com/review/diagrams-mind-maps-more/

Edraw Max is not free, but there are some free mind mapping tools available, like Free Mind and Xmind.

Freemind – http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

XMind - https://www.xmind.net/
WINDOWS LIVE WRITER
Windows Live Writer is a free tool from Microsoft that I use to compose my content. However,
Microsoft has stopped supporting this tool. The good news is that a bunch of coders have taken over
the project and released an almost identical program called Open Live Writer.

You can find Open Live Writer here:

http://openlivewriter.org/
PLUGINS USED ON THE SITE

1.1 WORDPRESS SEO

• Allows us to correctly optimize the site for the search engines.

1.2 WP-INSERT
• Ad manager and legal page generator.
1.3 CONTACT FORM 7
• Create simple contact forms.

1.4 REALLY SIMPLE CAPTCHA

• Adds Captcha to the contact form.

1.5 RICH TAX DESCRIPTION EDITOR

• Gives you a rich text editor for creating better looking category descriptions.
1.6 PRETTY LINKS LITE
• Allows us to create nice links that we can track for clicks.

1.7 POST TYPES ORDER

• Allows you to order the posts without having to edit publication date.
INTERNAL LINKING ON THE SITE
I am using a commercial plugin called C.I. Backlinks.

I like this plugin because it gives me the control I need with internal linking, and means it’s totally
automated once set up. When new pages are added to the site, the plugin will automatically create the
links on those new pages if trigger words and phrases appear.

You can get C.I. Backlinks here:

http://ezseonews.com/cibacklinks
WORDPRESS THEMES
I normally use the Genesis Framework, simply because they are so configurable and offer advanced web
designers a lot of tools to make changes to the basic design. You can also buy a lot of ready-made child
theme for Genesis. You can see the child themes for Genesis over here:

http://ezseonews.com/genesis

The theme I am actually using on the site is Customizr Pro. You can download a free version of that
theme here:

STOCK PHOTOS FOR YOUR SITE
The place I get my stock photos is Photodune. You can find them here:

http://ezseonews.com/photodune
CSS COURSE COUPON
This section of the course did do some CSS tweaks. If you would like to learn how to do these yourself,
or just understand CSS a little better, you can take my CSS for Beginners course on Udemy. I have
created a coupon specifically for students on this course that gives you access for just $10.

WORDPRESS INSTALLATION COURSE
I have a course on Udemy that shows how to install Wordpress on a Web Server. It covers the two
main ways - automated installers and by FTP. Although it is no longer free, students of this course
can get it for free using the coupon below:

https://www.udemy.com/installing-wordpress-domain-registrars-and-web-
hosting/?couponCode=WP4BCODE

In addition, if you want to learn how to install Wordpress on your own computer, so you can learn
how to use Wordpress and even build a site WITHOUT web hosting fees, I have a course that
teaches you how to install Wordpress on your own computer (PC or Mac), and even how to move
your local site to a web host when you are ready. This course usually sells for at least $95 (can
change without notice), but students of my Wordpress for Beginners course can get it for just
$10 using this coupon link:
