What is rhythm?
The sounds that are formed by counting and
clapping are called rhythm. Rhythm can be
understood using images.
One way to show love to our country is by
singing our folk songs. The song “
Magtanim ay Di Biro” written to the next
page is one among the many folk songs that
we may enjoy singing. In learning a song,
we have to study the rhythm and tempo in
order to count the beat.

What is meter in music?

meter is a recurring pattern of stresses or
accents that provide the pulse or beat of
music. Meter is notated at the beginning of a
composition with a time signature. Time
signatures are always notated with two numbers,
one on top of the other, much like a fraction in

What are rhythmic pattern?
• You have learned in your previous grade level the
rhythm is the continuous flow of movement of sound
and silence. The different groups of notes and rests
create a pattern.
• To group the notes, you have to use the time
signature. Time signature is a fraction – like number
which is used to show how many beats a measure will
have in order to create a rhythmic pattern.

 What are the conducting movements
of the time signature?
Conducting movement in music is one
way of responding to the beat, tempo,
and dynamics of a music piece. As a pupil
you must know how to respond properly
to a song by means of conducting
appropriately.
