Hazardous Location Certifications

Examining Pelco ExSite™

The Pelco ExSite Series Explosionproof Pan/Tilt system

is designed for installation in areas classified as
Hazardous Locations. These sites are characterized as
having explosion risks associated with the presence of
combustible gases, dusts and fibers or flyings. In most
cases, areas that meet the criteria of a Hazardous Location
have been classified as such by health and safety agencies
that have jurisdiction over the welfare of workers and
civilians in the immediate area of the risk.

Products designed for use in Hazardous Locations can only

be certified through third-party testing. Strict conformance
to production and manufacturing standards, including
periodic audits is also required. National differences
require certification to be allowed unencumbered entry
into jurisdictions not specifically covered under the
general standards.

No single certification guarantees conformance in all

jurisdictions. Generally, however, jurisdictions fall into
two categories of certification: the North American
standard, as outlined by the NEC (National Electric Code),
and the European standard, as outlined by the ATEX New CERTIFICATIONS/RATINGS

approval process.

UL/cUL Marine Listed

Marine listing certifies products that have been evaluated
specifically for marine use. Products bearing this mark
have been evaluated to UL’s published Marine Safety
Standards and other applicable standards and codes. These
requirements address hazards that can occur as
a result of exposure to harsh marine environments,
including vibration, shock (impact), water ingress and
salt spray corrosion.

Lloyd’s Register Type Approval

Lloyd’s is an independent risk management organization
that is well known in maritime circles as a leading,
third party, certification body for systems used in
marine applications.
