ED114 Guidance 1 Self- Efficacy

1. What are the sources of Self-Efficacy? Discuss each sources.

-Mastery experience. This implies that a person needs to have the experience of overcoming obstacles
through perseverance. It is also important to note that if a child only experience easy success they will
expect quick results and will then be easily discouraged.

-Social Modeling. People learn from one another through observation, imitation and modelling,
thus a source of child's self-efficacy is from the people they interact with on a daily basis.

-Verbal Persuasion. Encouragement and persuasion to believe in themselves during difficulties


help people preserve through their difficulty persuading your child to persist will aid them in
finding a solution to their problem and will increase them enhance of success.

-Emotional and Physiological States. a factor that contribute to your child's self-efficacy beliefs
in their physical and emotional states. By instance, their physical efficacy beliefs are
strengthened by their ability to reduce the feelings of anxiety and depression.

-Vicarious Experience. source of self-efficacy comes from our observation of people we consider
succeed by their sustained effort raises our belief that we too possess the capabilities to master
the activities needed for success in that area.

2. What are the major process that affect human functioning? explain each process.

-Affective Process. It is a process which regulate emotional states and elicitation of emotional
reactions

-Cognitive Process. a thinking process involved in the acquisition, organization and use of
information
-Motivation. level of motivation reflected un choice of course of action and in the intensity and
persistent effort

-Selection Process. people avoid activities and situations they believe exceed their capabilities.
They undertake challenging activities and select situation they consider themselves capable of
handling

3. Discuss the development and exercise of self efficacy over the life span. describe each if the
development changes which occur in the scope of self-efficacy development.

-Different periods of life present certain types of competency demand for successful
functionates normative changes in require competencies with age do not represent lack step
stages through which everyone must inevitably pass. There are many pathways through life and
at any given period people vary substantially in how efficaciously they manage their lives. The
sections that follow provide a brief analysis of the characteristic developmental changes in the
nature and scope of perceived self-efficacy over the course of the life span
