5.5 Assembly of Automatic Coupler

5.5.1 Mounting of Rubber Doughnut Anchor and Deformation Unit

5.5.1.1 Safety precautions

5.5.1.4 Mounting
Text within brackets ( ) refers to Figure 27.
Replace all fasteners and rubber parts if applicable.

Note If a socket joint (4) and (6) is being reused the screws (2), nuts (8) and securing
plates (7) shall be replaced with new ones.

1. Grease the contact surfaces of the flanges and both socket joint halves (4) and (6)
with Gleitmo/Fuchs Lagermeister 3000+, or similar.

Note Make sure the drain holes in the lower socket joint (6) are not clogged.

2. Align the flanges of the deformation unit (1) and rubber doughnut anchor (5) and
gently knock the first socket joint half (4) into place over the flange joint. Make sure
that the socket joint guide pin is correctly positioned in the corresponding recess in
the flanges.
3. Fit the second socket joint half (6) in position and gently knock it to fit. Make sure
that the guide pin is correctly positioned in the corresponding recess in the flanges.
4. Apply Molykote 1000, or similar, to the screw threads (2) and fit screws, nuts (8),
securing plates (7) and lock washers (3) to the socket joints. Tighten nuts by hand,
without tools.
5. Check that both socket joint halves are parallel within 2 mm, equal distance (e)
compared with (f) and apply 35 Nm torque to the nuts in a crosswise pattern
(a-c-b-d).
