 Cat Payload Control System
Advanced electronic computer system, for fast, accurate on-the-go weighing.

Designed specifically for Cat Load-Haul-Dump machines,

the payload Control System provides improved on-the-go
weighing, and a broader weighing range that is less
sensitive to operator technique.
• on-the-go weighing during the lift cycle helps the
operator achieve maximum loader productivity.
• Stationary weighing allows reweighs and partial
dumps for precise loading.
Payload Management
For off-highway trucks it helps:
• assure trucks have the appropriate payload
• enhance truck life by eliminating overload stresses
• assist trucks in maintaining design haul speeds
• reduce the need for on-site scales ... more trucks
can be loaded per shift/per day
• assist in contract management administration

Material flow management allows you to track the

type of materials loaded, the quantity loaded and into
which trucks it was loaded.
Material movement recording stores all important data.
Tickets can be printed for drivers and/or received
later by downloading to a personal computer.
Twelve different reports are provided to help improve
various aspects of your operation, from production
measurement, to inventory control, to machine and
personal scheduling.
Billing Management. Both you and your customers
are assured that billing is prompt and accurate.
Availability. The new Payload Control System is
offered on Caterpillar models R1300G, R1600G,
R1700G, R2900G and R2900G XTRA.

Technology to easily, accurately and reliably manage your payloads

Easily installed in the field using existing wiring harnesses

on LHDs.
Retrofit kits are available for field installation
Calibration can be accomplished in less than an hour.
Accuracy. Typical dynamic truck payload accuracy is
± 1.5%. Accuracy with a stationary vehicle and moving lift
arms of less than ± 1% can be achieved. No fine tuning after
calibration is required. Zero weight of the bucket is easily
reset by the operator as required.
System reliability is assured through simpler and less
frequent calibration.

Numeric Keypad Self-diagnostic program displays system fault codes and

can monitor hydraulic system performance.
Weights are displayed in tons, metric tonnes or thousands
of pounds
Flexible system. Weighing range can be customized to
match loader application.
System records the following data:
• loader identification number
• date, time, weight and number of passes
• material identification
Vacuum Fluorescent Display
• up to 21 different materials
• truck identification numbers (up to 5 digits)
• up to 2639 truck loads

Data can be downloaded to a personal computer to
utilize 12 different predesigned reports. Downloading
is accomplished by using an optional Windows-based
program for Cat Payload Control System and an industry
standard RS232 port.
The predesigned reports are:
• average time to load
• average loading time vs. material type
• customer and vehicle list
• individual customer vehicle list
• number of trucks by hour
• material list
• material summary by customer
• number of trucks by material type
• payload distribution of trucks
• time between truck loads
• monthly customer detailed summary by date, time,
truck, material and weight.
• monthly customer summary by material, number of
trucks, weight, material price and cost to customer

Optional onboard printer can
output one of three ticket
formats for the truck driver
Optional onboard ticket printing capability is achieved
through the installation of a variety of commonly available
thermal printers. Ticket format options include:
• individual truck ticket with material description,
number of passes, weight of each pass, total weight,
loader and truck identification, time and date.
• total truck ticket showing all trucks loaded and their
identifications, material identifications, dates and times,
number of passes and total weight for each truck.
• material total ticket identifies the loader, total number
of trucks loaded, total amount of material loaded and
totals for each material.
Count up or count down mode provides load monitoring
flexibility.
Vacuum fluorescent display is adjustable for brightness to
provide optimum readability in various lighting conditions.
Easy to set up and use with instructions and confirmation
displayed on screen. Display scroll speed is adjustable.
Critical setup menus are password protected.
Languages available are English, German, French,
Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, Swedish and Norwegian.
