Letter to a friend moving to a Cold Country.

Hello Alison,

I just read the email that you sent to me earlier this week. So, you're moving to Alaska, huh?
How are you getting on with the preparations for moving to Alaska? Although you'll be over
8,000 km away, I hope we stay in contact. But, before you go, I want to share some things
you'll surely enjoy and some things you might want to prepare for.

Since you are moving there in November, it will be exceedingly cold. Once you land, you'll
feel like you're in 'Arendelle.' You'll see snow dancing and settling down gently. As a citizen
from a tropical country, I am 100% sure you'll find it very peaceful and magical, but make
sure you are wrapped in layers of warm and thick clothes ... you don't want to become a
living snowman. People in Alaska are super helpful and generous, so don't worry about being
lost, unsupplied, or short-handed. They will help you in any way they can!

Just like most countries, Alaska has 4 seasons; Spring, Autumn, Summer, and Winter. It may
sound ordinary, but it's actually not. Winter in Alaska lasts from October to March, which is
six whole months! During winter months, you'll only see sunlight for around 4 hours each
day - the sun rises at 11 am and sets at around 4 pm - so you may need to arrange your sleep
schedule. The temperature can drop to as low as -30 oF! So, make sure you have a closet full
of warm clothes. In the Summer, though, you will see sunlight for 22 hours, and the
temperature can rise up to 80oF.

Alaskans have a Southern accent, and you might need to be all ears to catch up with what
they are saying, but I'm sure you'll do fine after a long period of stay. Oh, and also, Alaska
has a variety of awfully exotic food. They are famous for their Reindeer sausage - oh, poor
Rudolph. I know it sounds harsh to call it Reindeer sausage but trust me, you'll love it. With
the abundance of Salmons in Alaskan, you will see many different types of Salmon dishes
from freshly caught fish.

Alaska is known for its wildlife and wilderness. You'll wake up to the peaceful sound of the
wind. In fact, the immensely pretty mountain ranges will keep you calm. Lakes, rivers, and
waterways in Alaska is a must to visit while you are there. You can relax to the sound of
water flowing and the birds chirping. You will even see glaciers and fjords for the first time
in your life! Alaska is a beautiful country. Last night, I came across an article about northern
lights. If you are lucky enough, you will get a chance to see the glowing fires in the sky.
Saying this wants me to pack my bags and move to Alaska, ha-ha.

I think this is all you need to know. You still have two weeks to prepare, so don't stress too
much. Let's meet up one more time before you leave. I'll miss you so much, and please stay in
contact with us. I wish for the best.

Sincerely,
Theint
