Gap to be bridged by the Study

This study focused on the determining job competencies and skills of residents in GK Community in
Nasipit River Cruise of Castilla. This is in light of that these competencies may help the destination’s
promotion and providing tourists or visitors a satisfying service they expect to experience at the
destination as well.

Researches, literature and studies being cited this study and most dissertations are relevant in terms of
identifying the competencies of target respondents. However, after being analyzed, it can be concluded
that most of the past researches and literatures available and conducted are just merely focused in
evaluating, determining or identifying only the skills and competencies. This means that the gap which
can be drawn is that the subject of this study does not only focuses on the competencies itself, it further
presents solutions to aid the needs of the residents in enhancing and developing their values and skill
competencies. Moreover, the obtained skill competencies from respondents who are GK residents are
aimed to use for destination promotion and service formulation needed at the tourist destination.
Connectedly, these are the advantages or edge of the present study compared to previous researches –
identifying and obtaining competencies and at the same time, analyzing the role of locales’
competencies and how these variables might benefit the tourism of the place.
