INTRODUCTION

EDU 531, is an extensive introduction to all aspects of Field Study including:

Phonology, Morphology, Lexical and Sentence semantics. Syntax Pragmatic’s this
text is for advanced undergraduate (and graduate) student interested in
contemporary English, especially those whose primary area of interest is English
as a second language, primary or secondary school education, English stylistics,
theoretical and applied linguistics, or speech pathology. Focus is exclusively on
English data, providing empirical explication of the structure of the language rather
than exploring theoretical questions or theory for theory’s sake. The text does use
linguistic theory but presupposes little or no background in linguistic or any
particular linguistic prediction. The textbook begins with units on English
phonology ang morphology including a full discussion of the grammatical
categories of English. A section on lexical semantics follows which examines
structural semantics, modal auxiliaries, lexical aspect and related topics. The next
section analyzes on detail English syntax from broadly generative perspective.
Then there is an examination of the interaction of syntax and semantics with
respects to thematic roles and events.
BIOGRAPHY

My name is Monica Faye G. Maliwat, 18 years old, studying at PHINMA

ARAULLO UNIVERSITY, 1st year college with a course of Secondary Education
Major in English. I’m the eldest daughter. I love to sing and dance. Both are my
passions, and they make me feel happy every time I do them when I’m alone. I
also love doing TikTok videos when there’s a new dance trend. I also love
watching old Disney princesses and more cartoon movies. My favorite colors are
white and black. I also have many comfy pillows and stuffed toys. I have amazing
parents who are my funniest and sometimes my partners in movies. My dad is
named Roderick B. Maliwat. He is only an XLT Driver but he always gives us
expensive things and my one and only Wonder woman, my mom, is named
Christine Maliwat. No matter how many trials she's going through, no matter how
hard she's working, she's doing everything just to give us what we need.
BELIEFS ON TEACHING AND LEARNING
(PRE AND POST)

Pre-

I believed that teaching is just about providing differentiated learning activities and
sharing knowledge to the students to help them grow as a student. I thought that
leaning is about all the experiences and putting all your attentions all the time to
activities.

Post-

The day when I entered college, all my thoughts on learning and teaching was
already changed. Teachers should not the only one who’s sharing knowledge and
ideas about the lesson but also the students, because it can help students to have an
interaction and providing knowledge on their own.

REFLECTIONS

METACOGNITIVE REGULATION AND CONTROL

Metacognitive regulation refers to what learners do about learning. It describes

how learners monitor and control their cognitive processes, for example, a learner
might realize that a particular strategy is not achieving the results they want, so
they decide to try a different strategy.

INFORMATION PROCESSING THEORY

The information processing theory is based on the idea that humans actively
process the information they receive from their senses, like a computer does.

METACOGNITION AND METACOGNITIVE KNOWLEDGE

Metacognition is essentially reflection on the micro level, an awareness of our own

thought processes as we complete them. Self-evaluation is about not only making
progress, but building confidence and independent thinking.

GESTALT THEORY

I believe that gestalt techniques allow an individual to understand and accept their
eccentricities. If a person is uncomfortable with how they interact in the world, a
gestalt therapist can help the client to become self-aware of their actions and
discuss the reasons for the client’s behavior.
