1.000 2.000 LATOR SCOPE The specification covers the design, manufacture, testing at manufacturer's works and delivery for at work site of line insulators for 33 KV lines, no deviation from this specification will be permitted. ‘The materials shall have to be dispatched by road. STANDARD The insulator strings and its components shall conform to the following Indian / International Standards which shall mean latest revision, with amendments/changes adopted and published, unless specifically stated otherwise in the Specification. In the event of supply of insulators conforming to standards other than specified, the Bidder shall confirm in his bid that these standards are equivalent to those specified. In case of award, salient features of comparison between the standards proposed by the Bidder and those specified in this document will be provided by the Supplier to establish equivalence. MATERIAL REQUIRED: LINE INSULATORS 33 KV line: Insulator string suitable for 33KV voltage shall consist of standard (255 mm x 145 mm) discs & (255 mm x 145 mm) dises ball and socket type, for suspension & tension string respectively. The exposed porcelain parts shall be glazed brown. Unless otherwise specified in the case of special assemblies, 3 Units shall be used on all 33 KV strain string of 70 KN dise insulators. ‘One unit of 3kV pin insulators along with GI pin will be used in the tangent rail pole locations Strain insulator discs shall have suitable differentiating marks from suspension discs to facilitate easy identification and to ensure against wrong use. Such marks shall be permanent and either glazed or stamped on insulator discs or embossed on cemented hardware. To ensure against spot loading cap-sockets shall be machined properly for correct ball stud seats, “W” or “R” shaped security clip for locking the ball head of the stud in the socket of the cap conforming to relevant B.S. or LS. specification shall be supplied. Ball and socket parts refer to 20 mm designation conforming to specification No. BS-137-1960 (Fig. No. 14 to 17) or IS-2486 (Part-Il)-1974 (Fig. No. 10 to 19) or IEC-120. PORCELAIN The porcelain shall be of the best electrical quality made by wet process, homogeneous, free from any laminations cavities, flaws or imperfections and shall be vitreous and impervious to moisture. Glazing shall be uniform brown colour, smooth surface, free from any blisters, bums or other defects. Its co- efficient of Thermal expansion shall be identical with the porcelain body. The glaze shall not crack or chip due to ageing under weather conditions or while handling during shipment and erection. CEME! iG ‘The quality of cement and cementing shall ensure exact spacing, alignment and fre from cracks and deterioration due to chemical action. The co-efficient of expansion shall be very near that of porcelain/steel, GALVANIZING All ferrous parts shall be hot dip galvanized to conform to IS-2633-1992. TESTS Quality control of the insulators supplied shall be as per IEC 60383 / IS-731-latest or any other equivalent authoritative standard with regard to selection of samples, numbers to be tested, and the tests to be carried out. The test on individual dise and also string including potential distribution test with the hardware fitting shall have to be carried out, 10 (ten) copies of certified test certificates that the full supply conforms in materials and workmanship to the specimen tested shall be furnished. Purchaser's written approval of tests made shall be obtained prior to shipment. ‘The purchaser may at any time call for any optional tests so specified in the standards. The contractor shall arrange such tests expeditiously for which payment will be made. MARKING Each Disc Insulator shall be legibly and indelibly marked with the name of the manufacturer, name of the purchaser ie ‘DVC’ and month & year of manufacturer. The guaranteed Electro-mechanical strength shall be indicated in Kilo Newton followed by the word *KN’ to facilitate easy identification and to ensure proper use.
