‘The great management guru Peter Drucker once wrote "No artist ever sat down and wrote a masterpiece. If he produces a work of art, it is strictly by chance. But, if the business entrepreneur succeeds, it is not by chance, it is because the small idea of his business not only met the needs of the future, but shaped the future as well. All great achievements started with small ideas". T remember Prof, Manohar Potdar once discussed with me a similar small idea about writing a book on Quality Assurance in Pharmaceuticals for the students of Pharmacy and the first line supervisors in industry. But he could not do so probably because he could not spare sufficient time during his active industrial Life, till June, 2005, Now, that he has chosen to be in teaching and I know, that was his first love, he has used his time very fruitfully and created a wonderful book like this. I personally find this book is not only another book on GMP or QA but a book written by keeping in mind the needs of both the students and the industrial pharmacists. All the leading regulatory requirements of the pharmaceutical industry have been considered and explained in most easy to understand language and style. All his years of industrial experience seems to be distilled out in his book. The book explains most of the theoretical aspects and also gives practical suggestions and hints for easy implementation of tthe regulatory requirements, at the same time he has managed to keep the size of the book comfortable to the students and busy industrial pharmacists. The detailed glossary of terms, list of abbreviations used, and their full forms, regulatory and other references, and an exhaustive subject index has made the book very useful for every one who will use it. Tam sure this book will go a long way in filling the void between academies and industry. Lam also confident that it will be received and well read by professionals and students alike.
