4.4.2 PROTOCOL FOR RS232 – LED DISPLAY

The weight is sent as a simple string and is formatted as if it was going to another display with 5 digits and a
decimal point.
Protocol:
Start of transmission = STX (ASCII 02H)
Second character ASCII = decimal point either off = 0; or on and position = 1,2,3,4
Example: 0=off; 1= on, from right first position; 2 = on, from right second position; 3 = on,
from right third position; or 4 = on, from right fourth position.
Next 5 characters = ASCII numerals or dashes or spaces
Example 1234; or 108 or 24310
End of transmission = ETX (ASCII 03H)

Examples: all in HEX:

To see the number 763.0 02:31:20:37:36:33:30:03
To see the number 76.30 02:32:20:37:36:33:30:03
To see a row of dashes – – – – – 02:30:2D:2D:2D:2D:2D:03
To blank the display: 02:30:20:20:20:20:20:03
