SECTION 1
TITLE
> This act shall be known and cited as the
"Radiologic Technology Act of 1992"
SECTION 2
STATEMENT OF POLICY
It is the policy of the state to upgrade the
practice of radiologic technology in the
Philippines for the purposeof protecting the
public from the hazards posed by radiation as
well as to ensure safe and proper diagnosis,
treatment and research through the application
of machines and/or equipment using radiation.
SECTION 3
DEFINITION OF TERMS
X-RAY TECHNOLOGY - branch of radiology which
deals with the technical applications of x-rays as
aid in the diagnosis of diseases and injury.
RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY - deals with technical
application of radiation such as x-rays, beta rays,
gamma rays, ultrasound and radio frequency rays in
the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

X-RAY TECHNOLOGIST - holder of a certificate of
registration for x-raytechnology issued by the BORT.
RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST- holder of a certificate
of registration for radiologic technologist issued by
the BORT.

RADIOLOGY - branch with medical science which
deals with the use of radiation in diagnosis, treatment
and research of diseases.
RADIOLOGIST - licensed physician who specializes in
the diagnosis or treatment of disease with the use of
radiation.
MEDICAL PHYSICIST - a physicist who specializes in
the application of the principles and techniques of
physics in medicine.

COMMISSION - refers to thr professional Regulatory
Commission created under Presidential Decree 223.

PRACTICE OF X-RAY TECNOLOGY

The practice of x-ray technology shall include any and


all acts by wgich one renders, furnishes, or contracts
to render or furnished professional service as an x-ray
technologist.

TECNOLOGY
The practice of radiologic technology shall include any
and all acts by which one renders, furnishes, or
contracts to render or furnished professional service
as an radiologic technologist.

CREATION OF THE BOARD OF
RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY
1 Chairman

QUALIFICATION OF BOARD
MEMBERS
A. Each member of th board shall at the time of his appointment
: 1. Be a citizen and resident of the Philippines
2. Be of good moral character
3. Be atleast 30 years of age
4. Neither a member of the faculty of any school where
Radiologic technology is taught.

B. Three members of the Board including the Chairman shall at
the time of appointment:
1. Be a Radiologic Technologist
2. Have at least 10 years of practice as radiologic
technologists prior to their appointment.

Enforce the provisions of this act.
Administer oaths in accordance with this act.
Suspension/revoke of license after due investigation
Invistigate any violation of this act.

Neglect of duty
Incompetence or unprofessional
Immoral or dishonorable conduct

Members of the board shall be under general
supervision of the Commisiion.

*First members of the board
*To thoser prior to this act have passed
thecivil service examination for x-ray
technicians under DOH

SECTION 26
PENAL PROVISIONS
A fine of not less than 10,000 nor more than 40,000
pesos or imprisonment of not less tghan 1 year nor more
than 6 years if:

Without Certificate
Expired License
Forged Certificate

APPROPRIATIONS
The amount necessary for the compensation of the board
shall be included in the General Appropriation Act.

REPEALING CLAUSE

All laws, decrees, orders, rules and regulations


inconsistent are hereby repealed or modified
accordingly

EFFECTIVITY CLAUSE
This act shall take effect one month after its publication
