PART 1 - GENERAL
A. This Section specifies the requirements to provide a complete Metal composite Material panel system
for walls and soffits including:
1. Engineering.
2. Structural support framing.
3. Column and beam covers.
4. Louvers.
5. Sunscreens.
6. Windows.
7. Copings, parapet and cap flashings.
8. Accessories.
1.3 REFERENCES
A. Conform to the latest edition of the following or local equivalent – most stringent governs:
1. ASTM International.
2. European Union (EU) regulations and directives including CE Marking (EU).
3. International Building Code (IBC).
4. International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).
1.5 SUBMITTALS
Design Criteria:
Deflection: L/240 applied to positive load only, 3/4-inch (19mm) maximum deflection.
ASTM C518: Thermal performance shall provide a K factor of 0.14 BTU/sf/hr/degree F at 75°F (24°C) mean
temperature or 0.126 BTU/sf/hr/degree F at 40°F (4°C) mean temperature.
ASTM E72: Capable resisting loads and stresses within tested limits and conditions.
ASTM E283: 0.03 cfm/sf air leakage under a static pressure difference of 6.24 psf (299Pa).
ASTM E331: No water penetration at static pressure differential of 10 lb/sf (479Pa).
Bond Strength: No metal primer interface corrosion or delamination shall occur after 500 hours at 120 degrees F
(48.9°C) and 100 percent relative humidity.
Roof edge assembly shall comply with ANSI/SPRI ES-1.
International Building Code or local equivalent – most stringent governs.
A. Submit this Deferred Submittals to the A/E, Building Enclosure Consultant (BEC) and the Authorities.

F. Provide composite metal panel systems which comply with the requirements of the building code and
insurance authorities for use as a component of a non-load-bearing, noncombustible wall assembly with
the following fire-test characteristics:
G. ASTM E84 or UL723, Surface-burning characteristics: flamespread and spread of 25 or less and smoke-
developed index of 450 or less when tested in the maximum thickness for non-rated assemblies.
H. NFPA 285 tested for vertical and lateral fire propagation.
I. NFPA 286 tested for fire growth.
J. ASTM E119 or UL263 tested for fire-resistance rating of wall assembly.
K. FM 4880/4881 Class 1 insulated wall panel.
L. Panels tested performance complies with IBC Chapter 26 or local equivalent.
M. Thermal Barrier: Required for installations greater than 40 feet (12,190mm) above grade.
N. Structural: Provide metal wall panel assemblies capable of withstanding the effects of indicated loads
and stresses within limits and under conditions indicated, per ASTM E72:
O. Comply with IBC or local equivalent – most stringent governs.
P. See Standard 0305-DOTWG for seismic performance and wind loading.
Q. Thermal Movement: Allow for movement of support structure due to thermal variations between
ambient and internal temperatures.
R. Mockup: Construct complete exterior wall assembly incorporating window, door, continuous insulation,
penetrations, sill and parapet.
1. Full scale mockup shall be incorporated into the Work.
2. Mockup inspected and approved by the A/E, BEC and Intel before Work is initiated
A. Packing, Shipping, Handling and Unloading: Protect products to prevent staining, denting, deterioration
of components or other damage. Protect panels and trim during shipping with protective wrap. Protect
painted surfaces with a strippable protective covering before shipping.
B. Comply with manufacturer’s written requirements for delivery, storage and handling.
1.8 WARRANTY
B. Project Environmental Requirements: Provide waterproof covering of gypsum sheathed walls until
metal panel and flashing is installed.

A. Performance Test: Provide composite metal panel system meeting performance requirements for
application of specified tests by a qualified testing agency on manufacturer's standard assemblies.
B. Structural: Provide metal wall panel assemblies capable of withstanding the effects of indicated loads
and stresses within limits and under conditions indicated, per ASTM E72:
1. Comply with IBC and ASCE 7.
2. See structural Drawings for seismic performance and wind loading.
C. Design Criteria:

5. ASTM E119 or UL263 tested for fire-resistance rating of wall assembly.
6. FM 4880/4881 Class 1 insulated wall panel; BRE LPS 1181, Grade EXT-B (EU).

2.3 MATERIALS
A. Metal Composite Material: G90 galvanized 22 gauge sheet steel; ASTM A653; EN10346 (EU),
structural quality coil coated per ASTM A755; composite material consisting of exterior metal face
sheet with interior metal liner panel bonded to factory foamed-in-place insulation core utilizing no glues
or adhesives with factory-sealed tongue-and-groove and pressure-equalized rain screen-designed joint;
Attached to supports using concealed fasteners.
1. Thickness: Provide insulation of thickness and composition to comply with specified fire-
resistance and thermal-resistance properties of the Project and location.
2. Width/Reveals: Manufacturer’s standard indicated on the Drawings.
3. Orientations: Vertical and horizontal applications as indicated as shown on the the Drawings.
4. Surface: Embossed unless indicated otherwiseor Non-embossed indicated on Drawings.

Striated Wall Panel: Lightly profiled.
B. Column and Beam Covers: Manufacturer’s standard covers complete with reveals and accessories.
1. Shape: Round (preferred), square, rectangular or oblong sections.
2. Exterior: Composite metal materials; finish to match wall panels.
3. Interior: Clear anodized finish, Architectural Class I, AAMA 611.
C. Louvers: Manufacturer’s standard fixed drainable, AMCA certified louvers for integration in horizontal
panels; finish to match wall panels. Coordinate louvers by others if not available by panel manufacturer.
See Section Section 08_91_00_00, Louvers.
D. Sunscreens: Manufacturer’s standard sunscreen with grilles for application above windows to reduce
building’s energy consumption and glare.
1. Material: As indicated on the Drawings.
2. Blade: Aluminum horizontal or vertical as indicated on the Drawings.
3. Finish: Clear anodized finish, Architectural Class I, AAMA 611.
E. Window: Manufacturer’s standard, integrated, fixed aluminum window units designed to integrate with
metal wall panel profile and secondary support system with rain screen and pressure equalization;
2.4 ACCESSORIES
A.
D. Expansion Joints: Install joint covers specified in Section 07_95_13_00, Expansion Joint Cover
Assemblies and maintain insulated continuous insulationinterior and exterior loops across the joint.
F. Trim Copings, Parapet, Cap Flashings and Accessory Components: 26 gauge G90 galvanized steel;
same material, thickness and finish as sheet stock where exposed; brake formed to required profiles.; p
1. Provide warrantable and FM system approved system.
I. Sealants and Gaskets: Provide EPDM gaskets, tape mastic sealants, non-skinning and urethane specified
in Section 07_90_00_00, Joint Protection and recommended by manufacturer.
1. Sealant shall be field tested for compatibility to all substrates.
J. Fasteners: Manufacturer’s standard type to suit application; with soft neoprene washers; galvanized to
ASTM A153 2-ounce-per-square-foot coating; finish to match metal panels when exposed.
K. Powder-Actuated Fasteners: Galvanized in accordance with ASTM A153; with soft neoprene washers;
cap color to match panel color.
M. Bituminous Paint to Isolate Dissimilar Materials specified in Section 09_90_13_00, Painting and
Coating.
2.6 FABRICATION
A. Internal and External Corners: Same materials, thickness, and finish as panels; of same profile to suit
system; shop cut and factory mitered or folded to required angles and shapes. Mitered or folded internal
corners back-braced with minimum 18-gauge sheet stock, to maintain continuity of profile.
B. Anchorage and Support Members: Adequate size and thickness to meet the design loading requirements.
Provide for adjustable connections or anchorages to accommodate holding movement or deflections.
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Examine metal panel system substrate with Installer present. Inspect for erection tolerances and other
conditions that would adversely affect installation as follows.
1. Maximum deviations acceptable:
2. 1/4 inch (6mm) in 20 feet (6100mm) in any direction.
3. 3/8 inch (9.5mm) over a single panel.
4. Girt spacing 8 feet (2438mm) or more: 1/4 inch (6mm) out only.
5. Girt spacing less than 8 feet (2438mm): 1/8 inch (3mm) out only.
3.2 Framing: A/E or BEC to Iinspect wall panel framing that will support metal wall panels to determine if
support components are installed as indicated on approved Shop Drawings. Confirm presence of
acceptable framing members at recommended spacing to match installation requirements of metal wall
panels.
3.3 Openings: Verify that windows, doors, louvers and other penetrations match Shop Drawings.
3.4 A/E or BEC to Aadvise Contractor, in writing, of out-of-tolerance Work and other deficient conditions
prior to proceeding with metal wall panel installation.
3.5 Correct out-of-tolerance Work and other deficient conditions prior to proceeding with insulated
composite backup panel installation.
3.6 INSTALLATION
A. Install panel system in accordance with manufacturer’s written instruction, approved Shop Drawings
and project Drawings. Install panels in orientation, sizes and locations indicated. Anchor panels and
other components securely in place. Provide for thermal and structural movement.
B. Attach panels to metal framing using screws, fasteners, sealants and adhesives recommended for
application by metal panel manufacturer.
1. Fasten metal panels to supports with stainless steel fasteners at each location indicated on
approved Shop Drawings, at spacing and with fasteners recommended by manufacturer.
2. Cut panels in field where required using manufacturer's recommended methods.
3. Provide weatherproof jacks/installation for pipe and conduit penetrating metal panels.
4. Dissimilar Materials: Where elements of metal panel system will come into contact withTreat
dissimilar materials, treat faces and edges in contact with dissimilar materials as recommended by metal panel
manufacturer.
5. Provide weatherproof escutcheons for pipe and conduit penetrating wall panels.
6. Horizontal joinery: Working from base of installation to top, connect upper panel to lower panel
at dry seal joinery.
7. Vertical joinery: Using hardware and gaskets furnished by manufacturer to form a weather tight
seal between panels.
C. Install column/beam covers, louvers, windows, and sunscreens at locations shown on Drawings.
E. Seal and place gaskets to prevent weather penetration. Maintain neat appearance.
A. Testing Agency: A/E, BEC or Intel maywill engage an independent testing and inspection agency to
perform field tests and inspections and to prepare test reports.
1. Water-Spray Test: After completing portion of metal panel assembly including accessories and
associated flashingstrim, test 2-bay area selected by A/E for water penetration, according to AAMA 501.2.
2. Air Permeability Test.
3. Infrared thermography survey.
B. Tolerances:
1. 1/4-inch in 20 feet (6mm in 6.1m) out-of-plane.
2. 1/2-inch (12.7mm) over entire roof or wall surface.

C. Clean weep holes and drainage channels of obstructions, dirt, and sealant.
D. Repair minor scratches and abrasions with matching brush touchup paint. Spray touchup is not be
permitted within 75-ft (22m) air handlers or OFA intakes.
E. Clean weep holes and drainage channels of obstructions, dirt, and sealant.
F. Repair minor scratches and abrasions with matching touchup paint using small brush. Spray touchup is
not be permitted.
