CHAPTER VI

CONCLUSIONS AND SUGGESTIONS

In this chapter, the researcher explains the conclusions and suggestions of

the research. It is related to the implementation, the problem and the solution of

teaching reading recount text by using herringbone technique for junior high

school of MTsN Kota Madiun in the schooling year 2017/2018. The suggestions

are given to the teacher, students, school, and the other researcher. The

explanation of the conclusion and suggestion is described as follows:

A. Conclusion

After analyzing the data in the previous chapter, some conclusions are

presented as follows:

Teaching reading recount text by using herringbone technique for

junior high school of MTsN Kota Madiun in the schooling year 2017/2018

uses two steps, such as preparation and learning process. Preparation consists

of three steps, there are preparing the material, syllabus, and RPP or lesson

plan. In teaching and learning process, there are three steps, such as pre-

activities, while-activities, and post-activities. In pre-activities, the teacher

greets to open the lesson, the teacher asks the students to pray together,

checks students' attendance list, and the teacher tells the purpose of the

material. In while-activities, the teacher explains the material about recount

text. The teacher explains definition, generic structure, and language feature

recount text. Then, the students pay attention. The teacher asks the students to

make a group that has four until five members. The teacher also gives an

explanation about the roles of teaching reading recount text by using

herringbone technique. The teacher guide the students to read the text, and

discuss with their group. After the group finish, the students present their

answer in front of the class. In the post-activities, the teacher asks some

questions to review the material and students’ difficulties during the lesson.

Before closing, the teacher also concludes the material about recount text.

Finally, the teacher closes the teaching and learning process by greeting.

There are some problems of teaching reading recount text by using

herringbone technique for junior high school of MTsN Kota Madiun in the

schooling year 2017/2018. First, the students less vocabulary and knowledge

get difficult in the meaning of the word. Second, the students who do not

focus are rather difficult to understand the herringbone technique especially

the role format. Third, the time is very limit for the students.

There are some solutions of teaching reading recount text by using

herringbone technique for the junior high school of MTsN Kota Madiun.

First, the students search a difficult word in the dictionary and the teacher

gives examples to the students to make a summary. Second, the teacher

should be a facilitator and always monitor the group in herringbone

discussions, then the teacher gives examples and permits the students to use

the same role and format like teachers' example. Third, the teacher gives more

time to the students.

B. Suggestion

In this part, the researcher also gives the suggestion based on the

result of research for the students, English teacher, Institution, and readers.

The suggestions are as follows:

1. The Students

The students are suggested to more active in reading practice. So,

they can know their ability especially in reading and they can improve

their reading ability. It can help the students able to understand the

content of the text. In another side, the students need more study to add

their vocabulary, understanding the grammar and their pronunciation.

2. The English Teacher

In order to make students enjoy in teaching and learning process,

the teacher has to be creative. In the other side, the teacher can use this

method as one of many alternatives method that could be used in

improving student's ability in reading.

3. The Institution

Herringbone technique has a great role to stimulate the students of

the institution in reading ability.

4. The Readers

This research hopefully can give information or a reference to

improve reading ability.
