VERBS
 Reporting verbs dzielą się na trzy grupy: te, po których
stosujemy formę z końcówkę -ing, te, po których wymagany
jest bezokolicznik (full infinitive, czyli z to) oraz takie, po
których należy użyć that.
czasownik + forma gerund (końcówka -ing)

Po niżej wymienionych czasownikach konieczne jest zastosowanie

formy gerund:
accuse sb of doing/having done sth - oskarżać kogoś o
zrobienie czegoś
Mark accused me of stealing/having stolen the money. - Mark
oskarżył mnie o kradzież pieniędzy.
admit doing/having done sth - przyznawać się do zrobienia
czegoś
I admitted stealing/having stolen the money. - Przyznałem się
do kradzieży pieniędzy.
apologise to sb for doing sth - przepraszać kogoś za zrobienie
czegoś
Betty apologised to us for being late. - Betty przeprosiła nas za
spóźnienie.
boast about doing sth - chwalić się zrobieniem czegoś
Tim boasted about winning the contest. - Tim chwalił się
wygraniem konkursu.
complain about sth - skarżyć się na coś
The woman complained about having to wait for such a long
time. - Kobieta poskarżyła się na konieczność czekania przez
tak długi czas.
confess to doing/having done sth - przyznawać się, wyznawać
zrobienie czegoś
Henry confessed to murdering/having murdered his neighbour. -
Henry przyznał się do zamordowania swojego sąsiada.

deny doing/having done sth - zaprzeczyć czemuś

The children denied breaking/having broken the window. -
Dzieci zaprzeczają, że zbiły szybę.
insist on sb's doing sth - nalegać, żeby ktoś coś zrobił
The teacher insisted on the student’s answering all the questions.
- Nauczyciel nalegał, aby uczeń odpowiedział na wszystkie
pytania.
suggest doing sth - sugerować zrobienie czegoś
My doctor suggested quitting smoking. - Mój lekarz
zasugerował rzucenie palenia.
warn sb against doing sth - ostrzegać kogoś przed robieniem
czegoś
They warned us against crossing the river at night. - Ostrzegli
nas przed przekraczeniem rzeki nocą.
object to sb's doing sth - sprzeciwiać się, protestować
przeciwko robieniu czegoś przez kogoś
Mum objected to my going on holidays alone. - Mama
sprzeciwiła się mojemu samodzielnemu wyjazdowi na
wakacje.
 Czasownik + bezokolicznik (to+czasownik)
Po tych czasownikach konieczne jest zastosowanie bezokolicznika:
advise sb to do sth - radzić komuś, żeby coś zrobił
He advised us to find a good lawyer. - Poradził nam, żebyśmy
znaleźli dobrego prawnika.
agree to do sth - zgadzać się, (żeby) coś zrobić
Betty agreed to help me with the project. - Betty zgodziła się
pomóc mi z projektem.
allow sb to do - pozwalać komuś coś zrobić
My parents allowed me to stay out until 10 pm. - Rodzice
pozwolili mi nie wracać do domu przed 22.
ask sb to do sth - prosić kogoś, aby coś zrobił
Jeremy asked us to stay a bit longer. - Jeremy poprosił nas,
abyśmy zostali trochę dłużej.
beg sb to do sth - błagać kogoś, aby coś zrobił
The little girl begged her mother to buy her another ice-cream. -
Mała dziewczynka błagała matką, aby kupiła jej kolejnego loda.
claim to do/have done - twierdzić, że coś się zrobiło
The witness claimed to have seen Josh that night. - Świadek
twierdził, że widział Josha tamtej nocy.
command sb to do - rozkazać komuś coś zrobić
The general commanded the soldiers to march out. - Generał
rozkazał żołnierzom wymaszerować.
decide to do sth - zdecydować, postanowić coś zrobić
Tim decided to look for a new job. - Tom postanowił poszukać
nowej pracy.
demand to do sth - żądać, domagać się czegoś
John demanded to see his son. - John domagał się spotkania z
synem.
forbid sb to do sth - zabraniać komuś robienia czegoś
Our grandma forbade us to play with the neighbours’ children. -
Nasza babcia zabroniła nam bawić się z dziećmi sąsiadów.
invite sb to do sth - zapraszać kogoś do zrobienia czegoś
My friend invited me to stay overnight. - Moja przyjaciółka
zaprosiła mnie do zostania na noc.
offer to do sth - oferować zrobienie czegoś
The assistant offered to make us some coffee. - Asystentka
zaoferowała, że zrobi nam kawy.
order sb to do sth - rozkazać komuś coś zrobić
The king ordered his servants to leave the room. - Król rozkazał

persuade sb to do sth - przekonać, namówić kogoś do
zrobienia czegoś
Tina persuaded me to go on holidays to Greece. - Tina
przekonała mnie, żeby jechać na wakacje do Grecji.
promise to do sth - obiecywać zrobienie czegoś
My manager promised to give me a pay rise the following year. -

The doctor recommended Jim to do more exercise. - Lekarz

urge sb to do sth - usilnie namawiać, ponaglać kogoś, żeby coś

Our son urged us to leave the house in order not to be late for

warn sb not to do sth - ostrzegać kogoś, żeby czegoś nie robił
The receptionist warned us not to lose the keys. - Recepcjonistka
ostrzegła nas, żebyśmy nie zgubili kluczy.
 czasownik + that
Ostatnia grupa reporting verbs to te, po których należy użyć
zdania podrzędnego. Pamiętaj, że w tym przypadku musimy
przestrzegać zasady następstwa czasów! Zauważ, że użycie that
jest opcjonalne, kiedy podmiot w obydwu zdaniach jest ten sam.
add - dodać
She added that the weather was awful. - Dodała, że pogoda
była okropna.
admit - przyznać
Paul admitted (that) he had known about our problems
earlier. - Paul przyznał, że wiedział o naszych problemach
wcześniej.
agree - zgodzić się
Albert agreed that the situation was complicated. - Albert
zgodził się, że sytuacja była skomplikowana.
assure sb that - zapewnić kogoś, że
The nurse assured us that our father had the best care
possible. - Pielęgniarka zapewniła nas, że nasz ojciec miał
najlepszą możliwą opiekę.
claim - twierdzić
The police officer claimed that he had been observing the
defendant for three months. - Policjant twierdził, że

complain - skarżyć się
Our children complained that the soup was to spicy. - Nasze
dzieci skarżyły się, że zupa była zbyt pikantna.
confirm - potwierdzić
The consultant confirmed that I had been sent a wrong
product. - Konsultant potwierdził, że wysłano mi niewłaściwy
produkt.
confess - przyznawać się
Martha confessed that she had been listening to our
conversation. - Marta przyznała się, że słuchała naszej
rozmowy.
decide - zdecydować, postanowić
Elle decided that it was best to have a break. - Elle
zdecydowała, że najlepiej będzie zrobić przerwę.
deny - zaprzeczyć
Mark denied (that) he had talked to me. - Mark zaprzeczył, że
ze mną rozmawiał.
doubt whether/if - wątpić
Chris doubted whether he would manage to complete the task
on time. - Chris wątpił, czy zdoła skończyć zadanie na czas.
estimate - szacować
The expert estimated that we needed at least four months to
renovate the house. - Ekspert oszacował, że potrzebowaliśmy
przynajmniej czterech miesięcy, żeby wyremontować dom.
explain - tłumaczyć
The lecturer explained that the theory had been created many
years before. - Wykładowca wyjaśnił, że t teoria została
stworzona wiele lat wcześniej.
inform sb - informować
The ticket collector informed us that we needed to buy an extra
ticket for our dog. - Konduktor poinformował nas, że musimy
kupić dodatkowy bilet dla naszego psa.
point out - wskazywać
Mary pointed out that the story he was telling us was illogical. -
Mary wskazała, że historia, którą nam opowiadała, była
nielogiczna.
promise (sb) that - obiecywać (komuś), że
Mark promised his wife (that) he wouldn’t stay long at work that
day. - Mark obiecał żonie, że nie zostanie długo w pracy tego
dnia.
reply - odpowiadać
The woman replied (that) she didn’t need my help. - Kobieta
odpowiedziała, że nie potrzebowała mojej pomocy.
say - powiedzieć
Alice said (that) she was tired. - Alice powiedziała, że była
zmęczona.
suggest that sb should do sth - sugerować, że ktoś powinien
coś zrobić
