Reported speech - mowa zależna

Kiedy powtarzamy po angielsku czyjąś wypowiedź z przeszłości, zdanie podrzędne (czyli to,
w którym zawieramy treść tejże wypowiedzi) należy cofnąć o jeden czas w stosunku do tego
użytego oryginalnie.

Present Simple → Past Simple


“I always order pizza at weekends”, said Tina. - “Zawsze zamawiam pizzę w weekendy”,
powiedziała Tina.

Tina said (that) she always ordered pizza at weekends. - Tina powiedziała, że zawsze
zamawiała pizzę w weekendy.

Present Continuous → Past Continuous


“The teacher is marking the tests”, said Paul. - “Nauczyciel ocenia klasówki”, powiedział
Paul.

Paul said (that) the teacher was marking the tests. - Paul powiedział, że nauczyciel oceniał
klasówki.

Present Perfect → Past Perfect


“John has repaired the clock”, said Daisy. - “John naprawił zegar”, powiedziała Daisy.

Daisy said (that) John had repaired the clock. - Daisy powiedziała, że John naprawił zegar.

Present Perfect Continuous → Past Perfect Continuous


“We have been waiting for two hours!”, complained the customer. - “Czekamy od dwóch
godzin!”, poskarżył się klient.

The customer complained (that) they had been waiting for two hours. - Klient poskarżył się,
że czekali od dwóch godzin.

Past Simple → Past Perfect


“I needed your help”, Gina told me. - “Potrzebowałam Twojej pomocy”, powiedziała do mnie
Tina.

Tina told me (that) she had needed my help. - Gina powiedziała mi, że potrzebowała mojej
pomocy.

Past Continuous → Past Perfect Continuous


“We were sleeping”, explained Tom. - “Spaliśmy”, wyjaśnił Tom.

Tom explained (that) they had been sleeping. - Tom wyjaśnił, że spali.
Future Simple → would + bezokolicznik (Future in the Past)
“My friends will come”, promised Betty. - “Moi przyjaciele przyjdą”, obiecała Betty.

Betty promised (that) her friends would come. - Betty obiecała, że jej przyjaciele przyjdą.

Future Continuous → would be + ing (Future in the Past Continuous)


“They will be waiting for you”, warned us the man. - “Oni będą na Was czekali”, ostrzegł nas
mężczyzna.

The man warned us (that) they would be waiting for us. - Mężczyzna ostrzegł nas, że oni
będą na nas czekali.
