Problem
Institution X has been dealing with an issue of improving the teaching methodologies to
teach English and prepare students to be proficient in the language. Lately, the coordinator
has realized that he needs a plan to prepare teachers to be better at teaching. Students are
not showing the best results from the classes and the name and goodwill of the institution is
not being reliable. Some teachers have also complained about not having a backup plan or
plan B in their regular teaching practices and not many of them are capable of using ICT to
get the best out it and also change their monotonous lessons.
Objectives
General Objectives.
Improve the teaching quality and methodology used by teachers of the Institution X in
order to contribute student to increase their language proficiency as mid-term goal in the
next 12 months
Specific Objectives
Open a teacher training program to equip teachers with the proper knowledge and academic
background (methodologies, strategies, techniques, and action plans)
Train teachers on how to use and implement ICT in classroom in order to instruct students
on how to follow a self-paced and self-learning way of learning.
Implement a monthly in-service program as a space for teachers to have more training, and
also discuss about work issues that may arise in order to find solutions to overcome such
issues.
Opportunities
A teacher training can be a window for further teacher training certification programs that
can be offered to other institutions.
ICTs will not only strengthen teacher skills on how to use technological tools such Web
2.0 but also it will bring motivation to students to learn by the application of fresher ,
updated, attractive and innovative sources.
In-services will generate and confident-friendly environment for teachers to learn more
from new knowledge and their experience in the classroom.

Premises
Investment and budgeting can be an issue if not planned accordingly. Thinking about
physical, human and material resources is a must.
Creating a program requires time to plan a syllabus and select the content that must be
included; there must be a prior study of how to build up the logistics of the program
Plan to charge teachers taking the training in order to finance the program.
Availability for all teachers to use ICT must be planned to guarantee everyone to have
access to it.
Controlled premises
Prepare teacher accordingly with proper academic background from the opening of the
training program and in-service meetings.
Semi-controlled premises.
Analyze the market to open future training courses programs to be offered to other
institutions.
Uncontrolled premise
Making sure everyone is able to obtain the desired standards and preparation offered by the
course.
Coping with technology might require quite a while for some teachers
Students are getting well prepared during the transitions from non-trained to trained
teachers.
Tangible premises
Study a how much production has arisen by the improvement in the teaching quality, once
the teaching quality has improved; it will result in better language proficiency in students.
Intangible premises
A good name and goodwill can make the institution well recognized as an option to study
the language and also get prepared as an English teacher.

Identify an alternative
If the desired objectives can be reached for any particular reason, there are to possible ways
to reach them.
1) Make small research groups made by teachers, each group will have a goal to
accomplish: investigating about methodologies, how to use ICT in class, strategies
to plan and give a class effectively, etc.
2) Sending teachers to seminars and ELT conferences in different cities where they
may be taking place to take notes record and bring that information to be shared
with the rest of the staff.
3) Hiring instructors to train teachers on new methodologies and trends in language
teaching and use of ICTs
The idea is to keep in mind that the objective is to improve the teaching quality offered by
the institution.
Choosing an alternative
Improving the teaching quality is a process that takes time and patience, to achieve this
desired objective each specific objective will be assigned into a short-term goal, mid-term
goal and long term goal in a one-year period.
The short-term goal: In-services. (Have it planned and ready within the next 2
months
Mid-term goal: ICT (have it planned and ready within the next 6 months)
Long-term goal: Teacher training program (study how to implement a teacer
training program, select the content, have the material ready from the beginning to
the end of the year)

Support plan: Creating our own teaching material, creating our own pacing and selection
of topics that will be targeted during the teacher training and in-services. Design our own
syllabus and put it into practice in case hiring outside instructor is not an available way.
Use students` technological material such as cell phones and laptops to design classes
where the application of ICT is used.
