The City of Merritt has finalized con-
struction of a new 2000-square metre dog
park area, on the North-West corner of
Voght Park. The new dog park includes
separate run areas for large and small
dogs, surrounded with black chain-link
fencing and secure gated entrances. The
Dog Park includes a dog water drinking
fountain, picnic tables, and will soon in-
clude tree plantings inside and outside
the dog park area.
At this point, the grass has been
planted and needs time for the roots to
take hold. Estimated opening date: Au-
gust 30. In the meantime, please use the
temporary dog park in Collettville.

Unfortunately, the bright moon will
affect visibility of the always-anticipated
Perseid meteor shower. Instead of see-

reduce the visibility of meteors to about
10-20/hr at most, according to NASA.
