Guide Questions
Name: BIGORNIA, Junah D. Date: June 15, 2022
Section: 4IMT

A. Label the part

1. Independent Mixer
2. Refrigerated Compartment
3. Optional ISE module
4. STAT Sample Position
5. Automatic cuvette loader
6. Reagent compartment for reactionary tray
7. Reagent compartment for waste compartment
8. Integrated Computer with touch screen

B. What are the benefits of Pentra C-200 (5points)

● The benefits of the Pentra C-200 are that it is fully automated, which is a
Load-and-go analyzer. It is a wet type, meaning the reagents used are
liquid-based and a Chemistry analyzer. Moreover, its Physical specifications
have a lot to offer which are as follows:
○ It is an Automatic Cuvette Loader and has a storage position of 2 racks
of 96 single cuvettes Total is 192. It has a reactional dispensing tray and
Dispensing waste compartment that does not involve the end-user in
holding the cuvettes. Also, it has a Refrigerated Compartment for the
reagent tray and Sample tray. It has a STAT sample position for
emergency running. It is an Independent Mixer and has one sampling
arm used for Internal or external wash before and after aspiration
reagents to prevent cross-contamination, Shock detection to prevent
breakage, and bending. Level detection (capacitive) - ensure you have
samples or reagents. It is Integrated Computer with a Touch screen and
has Complete and Ergonomic Software, which is user-friendly and an
Optional ISE module.
● Furthermore, its Technical specifications:
○ Which has a photometric system that uses the spectrophotometry
Method and has eight wavelengths (340, 405, 510, 546, 570, 600, 660,
700) with a filter wheel and Halogen tungsten lamp (1000 h). It has a
Refrigerated compartment which is 8*C to 15*C by Peltier technology. It
has 15 reagent cassette positions equivalent to 15 tests and 15 sample
positions + 1 stat position (serum, plasma, urine, whole blood, or any
homogeneous fluid). It has a vast capacity, wherein the water supply has
5 external liters (equivalent to 2.1 liters per hour), cuvettes containing
two racks of 96 cuvettes equivalent to 192, and the volume of the cuvette
(which is the combination of the reagent and sample) that can load up to
120 to 450uL, a probe which has crash detection and capacitive
detection this is to see and check if you have enough sample or reagent
and a reaction wheel to do 24 cuvettes or 24 tests simultaneously. Its
computer is windows embedded and has a memory of 10000 results in
FIFO (First In, First Out) and lastly, its throughput of 90 test/hour
depending on the configuration, Pentra C200 ISE has up to 360
tests/hour and its mean throughput of Pentra C200 ISE in lab
configuration is 120 t/h.

C. Compare and contrast and principles of colorimetry and turbidimetry (5points)

● The difference between turbidimetry and colorimetry is that Turbidimetry is a
technique for determining the concentration of a substance in a solution by
measuring the intensity loss of a light beam across a solution containing
suspended particulate matter. Colorimetry is a technique for determining the
concentration of a colored solution. On the other hand, its similarities are,
Turbidimeters typically operate in the near-infrared range, whereas colorimeters
can measure a variety of spectral ranges (colors) of the source. As a result, a
turbidimeter measures "cloudiness," or the turbidity of colloidal samples,
whereas a colorimeter measures the concentration of chromophoric substances.

D. What are the different DAT that can be performed using the Pentra C-200 (5points)
● There are 14 DATs validated and performed using Pentra C200:
○ Amphetamine,
○ Barbiturate,
○ Benzodiazepine,
○ Buprenorphine,
○ Cannabinoid,
○ Cocaine,
○ Ecstasy,
