Notes
The main points of this movie are; children's addiction to sweets, the imagination and creativity that
each one possesses and the consequences of their misbehavior and arrogance.

Without a doubt, any child loves chocolate and sweets, for this reason Tim Burton used special
materials to make the sweets and make them look as real as possible. Likewise, he used artificial grass
and to make the chocolate river; look like chocolate, contracted a chemical company "Vickers", who
produced 192,000 gallons of fake dense chocolate.
Similarly, for the construction of the artifacts used in each character's scenes, Tim Burton avoided
using too many digital effects to reflect the original book's emphasis on texture and because he wanted
the younger actors to feel like they were working in an environment. realistic. As a result, forced
perspective techniques, animatronics, oversized props, and scale models were used to avoid computer-
generated imagery.

Notes

• Humility vs Arrogance

As the story unfolds, you can see how Charlie Bucket's humility and cunning allowed him to see the
entire factory and not give in to temptation. While his friends who were arrogant, disobedient and
pretentious did and didn’t take advantage of the tour.

To make myself understood, Charlie's friends:

Augustus Gloop: A gluttonous boy addicted to chocolate bars, who despite his disobedience, falls into
the chocolate river and is sucked down the pipe.

Violet Beauregarde: is clever, self-centered, rude, and obsessed with gum. Her anxiety got the better
of her, and she chewed a piece of blueberry pie gum that turned her into a giant rolling balloon.

Veruca Salt: is a greedy, demanding and spoiled brat, who ends up being attacked by millions of
squirrels and thrown in the garbage tank.

Mike Teavee: is moody and lazy, but also smart. He is a gamer and addicted to TV, this leads him to
be turned into a cartoon.
• Wonka Chocolate Bar

This is a key element in the development of this film. Since then, candy maker Willy Wonka has
hidden five golden tickets among his famous "Wonka bars." In effect, seekers of these special tickets
would receive a full tour of his incredible candy factory, as well as a lifetime supply of chocolate.

On the other hand, something curious is that the reaction of most children when they see this movie
for the first time; it is imagined that this chocolate bar is real. Therefore, wanting to buy it, when in
reality it’s just a fictional or created chocolate bar by the author of the story.

• Oompa Loompa songs

They were little men, who were in charge of taking care of and working in the factory. However,
throughout the movie, they did something that most of us probably didn't realize; and it is that his
clothing was according to the background of each character. In addition to the lyrics of their songs,
they have meaning and moral lessons. Not to mention that they are quite smart and resourceful for
the melodies that are apparently made up on the spot.

Whenever the Oompa Loompas sing, it’s usually to call out a child who has gone against the rules
during the factory tour. Indeed, the lyrics describe what the child has done wrong? And why it is
wrong? Even, the melody also calls the bad actions of parents, which have led their children to act in
a certain way.
