Coping with frustration,

conflict, and stress


Coping

 Refers to the way in which we respond to the situations, including stimuli,


threats, and promises that we frequently faced with.
 Is necessary since inability to do so may consequently lead to bodily
disequilibrium and mental health issues accompanied by tension and
anxiety.
Frustration

 An emotional state arising from interference with goal achievement


 It occurs when progress toward a desired goa is blocked or delayed.
 Can be caused by physical and social environment, or by personal
limitation.
 The major source of frustration is two opposing motives.
 When two incompatible response tendencies are aroused, satisfaction of one
usually leads to the frustration of the other
Conflict

 Refers to the simultaneous presence of incompatible or mutually exclusive


tendencies or desires
Stress

 Refers to a situation that calls for more than what is normal or


usual for a person
 According to APA dictionary of psychology, stressor is any event,
force, or condition that results in physical or emotional stress.
 These stressors can be internal or external forces that require
adjustment or coping techniques as the part of the affected
individual.
 One way of managing stress is to be able to identify the
symptoms of stress that falls into four general, but interrelated
categories like physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral. In
addition, stress also affect your social relationship.
Signs of stress in youth can show up in a
number of ways (American Psychological Association, 2019):

 Irritability and anger


 Changes in behavior
 Trouble sleeping
 Neglecting responsibilities
 Eating changes:
 Getting sick more often
