Partograph

Definition:
It is a composite graphical recording of cervical dilatation and descent of head against
duration of labour in hours. It gives information about fetal & maternal condition that
are all recorded on single sheet of paper
Advantages:
֎ Single sheet of paper provides all details at a glance,
֎ No need to record the events repeatedly,
֎ Give clear picture about labour,
֎ Can predict deviation from normal labour,
֎ Facilitates handover procedure,
֎ Save working time
Principles:
֎ Active phase of labour commence at 4cm dilatation ,
֎ Latent phase of labour should not last longer than 8hrs,
֎ During active labour the rate of cervix dilatation should be : Primi : 1cm/hr Multi :
1.5cm/hr

֎ amniotic fluid, moulding,
֎ cervical dilatation,
