General Objectives : On the completion of unit the student acquires knowledge regarding the nursing
management of patient with disorder of eye. The students will be trained with skills necessary for the individual to
identify and provide eye disorders and management at a basic level of care. And also to explain the etiology,
pathophysiology, manifestations, diagnostic studies, treatments and complications of eye disorders. Perform
assessment of eye to establish a data base for providing quality patient care and integrate the knowledge of
diagnostic tests in the process of data collection. Identify diagnoses, list them according to priority and formulate
nursing care plan. Perform nursing procedures skilfully and apply scientific principles while giving comprehensive
nursing care to patients. Integrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, nutrition and pharmacology in
caring for patients experiencing eye disorders. Identify the drugs used in treating patients with eye disorders. Plan
and provide relevant individual and group education on eye disorders. Maintain safe environment for patients and
the health care personnel in the hospital.
