GENERAL OBJECTIVE : After the completion of this unit students will be able to develop an understanding of the modern approach to
child care , identification, prevention and nursing management of common health problems of neonates and children.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: After the class students will be able to:

1. describe the nursing care of a normal newborn.

2. provide nursing care to a low birth weight baby.
3. explain about the importance of breast feeding and calculation for formula feed
4. identify and manage common congenital malformation.
5. recognize and manage common neonatal disorders.
6. describe neonatal jaundice.
7. enumerate neonatal sepsis and asphyxia.
