Introducing the world most advanced

Shore/IRHD durometer

DIGI TEST II
Modular design
● The whole system consists of 4 major modules,
the loading unit, the measuring unit, the stand and
LOADING UNIT
the electronic unit

● The loading unit sits on top of the system and is

electronically connected to the electronic unit. It
applies the required load depending on the type of
the test method

● The measuring unit is fully interchangeable for the

options of the entire Shore and IRHD ranges. It
MEASURING UNIT requires no complicated assembly and weighs from
0.4 ~ 1.7 kg
ELECTRONIC UNIT
● The test stand stretches from top to bottom 570
mm and the solid construction provides the best
stability for the entire system. This is the key for
TEST STAND generating precise measuring results
For the complete Shore, IRHD and VLRH ranges
The first and the only on the market. DIGI TEST II is the ultimate durometer with more than
20 different interchangeable measuring methods for materials of rubber, plastics, foams and gels. It
takes not more than 10 sec changing from method to method.
A truly PLUG-N-PLAY
system
➀ Loosen the thumbscrew
with your hand
Changing the measuring method
on digi test II is only about
3 simple steps and it can be
completed in just 10 sec.

➂ Simply press „Start “ to

➁ Plug/Unplug any measuring enable a hardness test

unit as desired and afterwards,

tighten the thumbscrew
Making hardness test possible on concave and convex surfaces
The conventional Shore A and Shore D tests require seamless contact of the presser foot and the
specimen surfaces. This limits the possiblity of performing hardness test on irregular shaped specimens.
The Bareiss Shore A/B/0 can generate Shore A measuring results on irregular shaped specimens while
the Shore D/C/D0 can generate Shore D measuring results. Continues to the next page…

Go beyond conventional measuring requsites

● NO Ø18 mm presser foot required on the durometer
● NO limitations on the specimen with uneven surfaces
● NO limitations on small lateral dimensions of the specimen
● NO inconsistent measuring results caused by different measuring times, applied loads and angle of
measuring
Making hardness test possible on specimens with material thickness
under 6.0 mm
As the standards DIN ISO 7619 and ASTM D 2240 describe that the test specimen shall be at least 6.0
mm in thickness, enough lateral dimensions to permit measurements at least 12.0 mm from any edge and
at least 6.0 mm distance from measurement to measurement. With the Bareiss micro Shore A and micro
Shore D 0.5 measuring technologies, we can generate micro Shore values which are comparable
to the standard Shore values on specimen as
thin as 0.5 mm. Continues to the next page…

Micro Shore A vs Shore A

The technology solely developed by Bareiss to generate comparable Shore A measuring values on
specimens from as thin as 0.5 mm to the standard thickness. The solution is widely adpoted by many
well-known customers in different industries. The measurements shown on this page are genuine data
from STIHL – the German manufacturer of different handheld power equipment
Introducing VLRH (Very Low Rubber Hardness)
Co-developed with PTB – the national metrology institute of Germany,
VLRH is a proven hardness measuring method for supersoft elastomers
or silicones. The digi test II with VLRH measuring unit conforms to the official
standard DIN ISO 27588

Your choice of using digi test II with or without PC
digi test II can work as a standalone system as the electronic unit not only working as the main control
of the system, it also provides basic testing information with its large LCD disply. When more
sophisticated data analysis and making a test report are required, a PC in combination with Hardtest
software can be considered.

Hardtest (Release 1.00xx)
Hardtest is a software which is developed for use with any of the Bareiss digital testers. The software
provides a template for making a nice detailed test report, viewing measurements in graph line and
histogram and setting upper and lower value limits. It is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8.

The national DAkkS calibration certificate
Bareiss with the registration number D-K-15206-01-00 became the first
DAkkS (formerly known as DKD) accredited certification body for Shore and
IRHD in Germany in 1996. This calibration certificate is to ensure your
instrument is delivered with the highest quality and measuring precision.
