Before the pandemic, tricycle drivers earned between PHP 500 and PHP 1000 per day, with

the minimum salary of PHP 295 per day (MIRDC, 2019). According to (Bhowmik, 2014), a

tricycle driver's daily working hours might range from 8 to 13 hours per day, with an average

daily wage of 100 to 300 pesos. Similar to (Almec Corporation, 2011), tricycle drivers work an

average of 13 hours per day, seven days a week, and earn PHP 242 per day.

Transportation is one of the Covid-19 victims when the pandemic begins. It has an effect on

the demand for passenger transportation (Harikumar, 2020). Lockdowns and community

quarantine are also essential to prevent the spread of illnesses. Taxi drivers, small-time

merchants, tourist guides, tricycle and pedicab drivers all see a decrease in overall revenue or

income (Clark, 2020). Because the suspension of operations paralyzes and halts the driver's daily

tasks while generating low revenue. This halt lowers the sector's total revenue. Because efficient

transportation and highly connected networks are typically associated with high levels of

development, they have an influence on their effectiveness and reduce the quality of life.

According to Ryan (2021), Physical Distancing is important components in slowing the

spreading of the Covid-19 pandemic, so compliance with preventative measures, which are 1

meter as mandated by the authorities to public areas, must be considered. Connected to (Lungsod

Mandaluyong, 2020), Physical barriers on the vehicle are one of the one of safety measures and

rules. Because of these barriers, passengers are limited to boarding per tricycle due to a lack of

space. It has a relationship to According to the Department of Transportation (2020), tricycle

drivers are required to wear masks, and commuters are also required to wear masks when

boarding the vehicle. It is also critical to correctly use face masks and face shields when
traveling, and to never remove these masks. Similar to study of Howard et al. (2020), that

wearing fask mask and face shield can be reducing COVID-19 transmission in both laboratory

and clinical settings.

According to Pedrajas (2020), if the passengers' destination is less than one kilometer from

the pick-up location, the tricycle driver may charge them. For every kilometer, they add PHP 2.

A fare matrix guide must also be placed inside the trike. To transport passengers from one point

to another and inside the city, tricycle drivers will employ an odd-even coding scheme. Similar

to (UITP 2020), the payment period is predicated on new limits on public transportation public

usage, which might result in revenue reductions. Rear-door boarding, on the other hand, assesses

financial risks such as producing or forcing free rides in systems that rely on customers boarding

at the front door for on-board charge collection.
