How to Create Ads and Presells Using the Ogilvy

Style
(1) The Headline (Must scream I am damn valuable)

(2) Open using a lead that creates authority and credibility for you (can be in
form of a story)

(3) Provide the needed information using a list format (1, 2, 3)

(4) Use stories and case studies to make the content interesting and believable.
Use triggers of likeability, social proof and authority for each point.

(5) Overcome potential objections that may arise as the prospect goes through
the content

(6) Make sure the content does the MAIN work of creating demand for the main
product or lead magnet that you are giving away

(7) Call to Action

EXTRA TIP: You can convert the Ogilvy editorial ad style to video. Use a hook at
the beginning to get attention

Here Is an Example Below:

How One Product From China Can Transform

Your Life
OPENING (Implies Authority & Credibility):

In February 2018, I printed and gave out 6000 free copies

of a book where I shared 7 profitable businesses for
Nigerians.
One of the businesses I talked about in the book is 'Smart
Ecommerce' which is the business of importing hot quality
products mostly from China and selling them in Nigeria at a
good profit.

One of the people who got the book shared her testimony
with me 2 months ago (May 2019)

She was able to start her smart ecommerce business around

June 2018 with a capital of N80,000 and turned that into a
profit of N3m within 6 months.

The Main Information Provided In List Format:

She prefers to remain anonymous but here is what she did:

1. She Took Her Time to Find & Import a Hot Product - This
is actually the first step to take in order to succeed with
the smart ecommerce business.

You MUST ONLY import products that are PROVEN to sell. One
way to do this is by using what I call the 'Ecommerce
Product Litmus Test' - The way the litmus test works is -
you create ads and try to sell the product before you pay a
dime for it.

If a lot of people show interest in buying it, that is when

you actually import it. In her case, she used the litmus
test to try out 11 different wristwatches for women. Out of
the 11 watches, women went gaga for 2. She imported the 2
and sold over 500 copies in 6 months

2. She Worked From Her House - Many people waste their

small capital on renting shop or office space. Not this
woman. As a small time, smart ecommerce person, you don't
need a shop. So, don't waste your capital on renting a
shop.

3. She Used Instagram & Whatsapp to Market - The next thing

she did was to use a combination of Instagram & Whatsapp to
get buyers. Why? First, there are a lot of buyers on
Instagram especially for women products.

And when you combine Instagram ads with the Whatsapp

messenger, you have a perfect selling machine in your
hands. This doesn't mean you should only use Instagram for
your business. The audience on Facebook is 4 times bigger
than the audience on Instagram. You can test both

4. She Used Pay on Delivery - Pay on delivery is a

fantastic way to get more sales than when you ask people to
pay upfront. Why? Many Nigerians are skeptical about buying
things online from someone they don't know. But when you
give them the chance to pay on delivery, you will get more
sales. You will also get some returns but it won't matter
and it won't be much if you follow the next advice

5. She Delivered Products Within 24 - 48 Hours - Most of

her customers ordered from Lagos and since she was getting
an average of 5 orders a day, she found a way to deliver
the products same day or within 48 hours. That way, her
returns were very low and she made a lot of profits.

CONCLUSION:

This woman's testimony is another proof that the Smart

Ecommerce business is very profitable:

According to a 2018 study published on Leadership.ng, the

E-commerce industry in Nigeria is worth 4.5 Trillion Naira
and growing. That tells you that it is a huge market.

And the market for physical products is HUGE and UNLIMITED

(you will never run out of products to sell)

You don't need a shop or office to start

And the profits can be fast and crazy

Overcoming potential objections:

So, how come many Nigerians are not doing it?

There are two reasons:

(a) They don't know about the business

(b) They know about it but they lack enough information to

get started and succeed with it.
The smart ecommerce business is for you if: You have at
least N50k as capital and willing to do a little work.
