soURCE: Colonoscopic mucosal biopsy from terminal ileum.

CLINICAL NOTESStool occult blood positive. Anaemia for evaluation.
Terminal ileum shows two tiny aphthous ulcers.
GROSS: Four grey white soft tissue bits up to 0.4cm. 4 all, 1 block.

MICROSCOPY Shows small intestinal mucosa with predominantly preserved

crypt villous architecture displaying oedema and mild to dense, variable
infiltrates of lymphocytes, plasma cells and many eosinophils in the lamina
propria. Cryptitis and crypt abscess are not noted. Vasculitis and parasites are
not observed. There are no granulomas or any evidence of dysplasia
malignancy in sections studied.
IMPRESSION: Focal active enteritis with eosinophilia. Please evaluate clinically
to rule out crohn's disease.
