BIOPSY-MEDIUM SPECIMEN (> 2CM & UPTO 5CM)

TISSUE:-Gall bladder for HPE

GROSS APPEARANCE :-Received gallbladder specimen measuring 4cm in length. The cystic duct resection margin is closed by a
clip. The serosa is unremarkable. The mucosa is flattened. Wall thickness ranging from 0.3 cm to 0.5 cm. Stones are identified
in the container. Representative sections are submitted . Partially embedded.

MICROSCOPIC FINDINGS :- Sections show structure of gall bladder. Mucosa is denuded at places. Lamina propria shows dense
chronic inflammatory cells comprising of lymphocytes and plasma cells. Extensive Rokitansky Aschoff sinuses present. Muscle
layer is thickened and wall shows increased fibroconnective tissue and few thickened congested blood vessels. There is no foci
of granuloma is seen. No evidence of malignancy.

IMPRESSION :- Features are suggestive of CHRONIC CHOLECYSTITIS WITH CHOLELITHAISIS.

Note:- Specimen, (if partly embedded) will be stored for 1 month after the final reporting date and all specimen will be
discarded after this period, Slides, Paraffin Blocks will be preserved for 5 years,
