    Mr. J Prakash Rao, a 49-year-old male, underwent an ultrasound of the abdomen. The ultrasound found: 1) altered liver echotexture with no masses or dilation of vessels; 2) gallbladder with multiple 10-12mm calculi and normal CBD; 3) normal pancreas, kidneys, bladder and prostate; 4) fibrosed spleen consistent with known sickle cell anemia; and 5) mild prostatomegaly. The impression was known sickle cell anemia with the above findings.

    ULTRASOUND

    ULTRASOUND ABDOMEN FOR MEN


    Liver: Normal in size with coarse echotexture. There is no evidence of

    IHBR/EHBR dilatation seen. The portal, hepatic vessels are normal.

    No S.O.L. noted.

    Gall Bladder: Partially distended with echogenic wall. Multiple calculi measuring 10-12mm seen.

    C.B.D appears normal with no intraluminal mass/ calculi.

    Pancreas: Head, Body & Tail are identified with normal echopattern & smooth outlines.

    The pancreatic duct system appears normal. The peri pancreatic fat planes

    are well preserved.

    Spleen: Not well visualised ( Known case of sickle cell disease)

    Right Kidney: Measured 100 x 48mm. Left Kidney: Measured 103 x 52mm.

    Both the kidneys are normal in their location, size, displayed grade I echotexture with normal

    corticomedullary differentiation. No calculi / hydroureteronephrosis seen.

    No evidence of suprarenal / retroperitoneal mass or lymphadenopathy noted.

    Urinary bladder: Normal in volume and wall thickness. No intraluminal mass / calculi noted.
