Specimen:

Lymphnode biopsy for HPE.

Clinical history :

C/o: Swelling in neck region.

Infected sebaceous cyst over the left occipital region from 15 days.
Macroscopic Examination:

Specimen received in formalin.

Received 2 containers, bottles unmarked.
Bottle marked 1: Received a single soft tissue bit measuring 0.7 cms.
A: All embedded.

Bottle marked 2: Received a single soft tissue bit measuring 1.5 x 1 x 0.5 cms. External surface grey white
and unremarkable. Cut sections show a dark brown area.
B: All embedded.
Microscopic Examination:

A & B) Multiple sections studied shows lymphnode with intact capsule and patent subcapsular sinuses.
Lymphnode architecture is preserved with follicles of varying sizes, few of them showing active germinal
centers. No evidence of atypical cells/ granuloma in the sections studied.
IMPRESSION:
(Method: F)

Features are suggestive of Reactive lymphnode.

Suggest clinical correlation.

Comments : NOTE:
1) Gross specimens will be retained for 1 month from receipt, after which they will be discarded.
2) Blocks and slides will be stored for five years.
