MOLECULAR BIOLOGY - RESULT

Test Component Result

COVID - 19 RdRp Gene Detected (Ct - 21.80)

COVID - 19 E Gene Detected (Ct - 23.10)

COVID - 19 N Gene Detected (Ct - 21.50)

Methodology RT-PCR

Sample type: Nasopharyngeal /Oropharyngeal Swab ICMR Code: ACQLAPRLBK

Interpretation: The sample was ‘Positive’ for SARS-CoV-2

Disclaimer:
1. Testing for SARS-CoV-2 was performed on a commercial ICMR approved RT-PCR kit/ US FDA EUA/CE IVD approved kit.
2. Negative results do not preclude SARS-CoV-2 and should not be used as the sole basis for patient management decisions. The test has to
be repeated after 48 to 72 hours if clinically suspected.
3. Viral nucleic acid may persist in vivo independent of virus viability. Detection of the analyze target does not indicate that the viruses are
infectious nor are the causative agents of symptoms.
4. False negative results may be attributable to improper sample collections, improper transport, treatment, PCR inhibitors, etc.
5. The results of this test pertain to the sample received as per ICMR guidelines, the contact and test details of all patients undergoing COVID-
19 testing need to be uploaded on the ICMR reporting portal and the same will be accessed by stakeholders including IDSP, MoHFW for
timely initiation of contact tracing and appropriate control measures.
6. Results that are LOW POSITIVE (CT values >35) could represent either early infection with rising viral load, or a late infection with falling
levels. Such results need to followed up by repeating the test with fresh sample a few days later.
7. Ct Values stated above are not indicative of severity of disease or disease progression.
